Dr. Joe DeMarco, chiropractor and owner of OcraMed Health, discusses how to relieve tightness/soreness in your knee prior to a workout.

You are not always going to feel 100% before a workout. Some days you may have a stiff shoulder, a sore back, a tight knee, etc. So what are you going to do? Take the day off?? Not me!

Today's video demonstrates simple easy fascial release techniques that you can use on your knee and quadriceps. I use these techniques on days when my knee might feel a little tight and or sore. I don't want to miss a leg workout so I will perform these techniques to warm up my knee and quads before I train. Often times, after a few minutes of fascial release work, my knee feels great and I can get under that squat rack feeling unbelievable!

Of course, if you have an actual knee injury, you need to consult a licensed doctor or therapist for evaluation. These techniques are used to help warm up and loosen mild tightness in the knee and quads. These techniques are not a replacement for medical and or chiropractic care.

I just watched your video, sat up on my couch, did the first exercises with my thumbs and fingers. My knees have been killing me for the last two months and most of the pain went away. These techniques are amazing! Thank you for sharing this!

I have pain under my knee cap and to the side when walking downhill, when I hike it can get to be a pain level 8-9, I am told my knee caps are a weird shape causing wear in the joint and arthritis. Would these exercises help this at all?

It would have been nice if you demonstrated how to use thumbs, as you described. It was difficult to conceptualize how to do something different than demonstrated, especially for the second exercise.
