Another problem i have with this is Krauss’ suggestion comes from another principle of quantum mechanics. The probability of a quantum outcome occurring increases in proportion to the passage of time. That is, the larger the time interval, the greater the probability that a quantum outcome, like the production of a virtual particle, will take place. This principle implies that if the time interval is zero, the probability for any quantum event is zero.

I hope atheists aren't taking this the wrong way. He was saying, assuming that he's right about the universe being flat with a total energy of 0, that it is possible for the universe to have begin from nothing. It doesn't mean that God doesn't exist, which I'm sure He does. There could have been a deity, but he was simply stating that it was possible without one. Of course, it would make sense for God to have created our universe to be like this, considering the total energy and organization.

well said, makes sense to me at least :)
as before 0=0, so 1-1=0 where gravity = -1 and mass = +1 all still =0 and is totally possible. If only some people would learn to accept science more, instead of denying logic and basic theorys (which appear flawless) then a lot of problems would be solved

But yeh I see what you are saying :) To be honest, it is still just a hypothesis the same as that of the God hypothesis, the only thing we are certain on is that the universe started with the "Big Bang" but what it was caused by we don't know. Wether a God used Quantum fluctuations to start a universe or not we can't say but if a God did then what created the God? Unfortunately we won't know for a very long time or we never will.

" HOWEVER if we are to be HONEST we dont know what GRAVITY is ITSELF in any FUNDAMENTAL WAY"!!

The earth is Flat!

I wish I had such faith as those who say that out of nothing everything came.

@theBartone9119 1) This is a simple-minded argument against the existence of a soul and an afterlife. The spiritual world is real, but you're so concentrated on the physical that you can't be open-minded enough to realize that.

2} This is another simple-minded argument. There is nothing wrong with a perfect being wanting to create or design. It was not to improve His perfection, since He's perfect, but for some other reason. Of course, this has nothing to do with whether He exists or not.

Has no one ever thought about it like this.. There is no end. There is no beginning. If we take in to account the "red shift" theory we know that the universe is expanding but at some point the universe will have to contract. The gravitational force will be to strong, much like the last phase of a dying star, what if I said that it contracted BACK and then re-explodes? And it does this forever, this could also backup other theories such as parallel universes and such but just an idea :P

How can it be flat if it's three dimensional?

There is something that bother me here :
What is the probability that Quantum fluctuations did create all the universe at once?
(I'm no expert so maybe I'm lacking to much knowledge and my question is not relevant)
PS: English is not my mother tong so maybe i don't express myself correctly.

Okay no offence or anything but I tried about 10 times to read that sentence and I have no idea what you are trying to say aha

You're just contradicting yourself? Plus I still don't understand where you're going with this aha

That doesn't explain where God came from you're just saying something totally irrelevant.

That's not Scientific accurate because Science shows Every Effect has a Cause!!

You are therefore presupposing the metaphysical law of causality. If that is indeed the case then you need to explain sufficiently the reason why quantum tunnelling and fluctuations create matter. If it is merely arbitrary as Krauss suggests, then we can deny the basic laws of logic, say the principle of non-contradiction. This allows us to prove anything starting off from anything.

This guy explains how the universe came from nothing. Does this somehow disprove that someone created the universe from nothing and then guided its progression rapidly? nope. GJ explaining how God did it, if this is really how he did it. Scientists not having faith is exactly down to this. They think because they know how it happened, nobody made it happen. WE are just a fluke. Where are the other creatures like us on earth or the known universe?

@CurtGeezus you are assuming the best case scenario for a theory. The point of the statement is that theories can be discarded. That means it does not necessarily represent factual history. It is a theory that suits some people right now, that is all.

@darkie7724 Quantum fluctuations are not bound by time. So fluctuations that happened after the Universe was created were the ones that created the Universe. To put it even more simply, the Universe created itself.

@billybagbom Not interested. The guy obviously looks at everything from an atheist perspective and tries his darnedest to push God out of anything he does. Not someone to trust when he is that Jaded
