As an American I'm happy(..mostly) to help alliance members that are struggling, until those I'm making up for start resenting me and trashing on me basically for it. I'm with Trump thinking everyone in the alliance should be upholding their share the alliance. Just can't win, people hate us for taking up slack, and they hate us when we want them to hold up their own.

Worked with NATO forces while in the US military. Was seriously underwhelmed by everyone except the Brits. Germans couldn't even get their reconnaissance aircraft to the theatre for the exercise.

Russia is inept, no doubt. But, the biggest, most meaningful assistance to Ukraine has come from a specific NATO member, the U.S. Brave as the Ukrainians are, where would they be with assistance from a NATO without the U.S.?
