Here's what would happen if ALL humans completely disappeared

Throughout the first day of our absence, all of the fossil fuel power plants around the world would shut down in rapid succession without humans around to re-fuel them with coal or oil. These shutdowns would lead to electrical blackouts across the globe, causing our world to rapidly go dark, grid-by-grid. What other consequences would there be if there were no humans on Earth?

I have no words for this video other than the fact that it's incredibly well made and it really makes you think about how much of a difference we really make on this planet! :D

It's always amazing hiw quickly mother nature takes over when I see someone leave their home and no one's there to maintain it.

So if you ever find yourself as the only human left on earth your goal is to make it to Las Vegas as quickly as you can, not only would there be electricity to keep things like refrigerators, phones, and various other necessities charged. But depending on the longevity of satellites and internet towers you might even be able to connect to the internet for around a year after everyone is gone

I saw a documentary about this years ago, it was very interesting to see how the earth would eventually reclaim itself with practically no trace of humans within a few hundred years.

That's crazy how plastic is still around 100, 000, 000 years after we are gone

Kind of insane to see (and hear) how elaborate a thought experiment can be. As well as how extensive our footprint on this planet actually is!

It's so sad that out of everything humanity has achieved, plastic is the one thing that will still be there so many millions of years after we're all gone. Not exactly the bright and proud legacy one would wish to leave behind.

I absolutely love this!
As a biology teacher who recently retired after 31 years of both direct and subversive attempts to teach about conservation, biodiversity, evolution, and the resilience of life, I always reminded my students that extinction is an inevitable consequence of being alive in an evolving world, . So while one day we, like all of the life that preceded us, will fade into life's history, living things will persist and be just fine even if we are not.

I'm wondering how many people are secretly wishing this would happen to let nature heal.

One thing you didn't mention was learned behaviour. The ingress of wild species might take a few generations, and species that learned to fear humans gradually return. Nuclear reactors will eventually 'scram' and go cold, not explode. Degradation of houses would take considerably longer, there are plenty of real world abandoned examples. Highly doubt any plastic would last more than 100, 000 years, let alone 100 Million. Rushmore would have eroded long before this. I really enjoyed this video, thank you.

Now we need a part two of what would happen if everyone reappeared

There was a series a few years ago called Life after People. It covered all this and a lot more. Definitely worth checking out!

4:40 my guy have u heard of a fail safe? Nuclear reactors have those, they woulnt just explode bc a lack of humans.

Goes to show us that we could have had many iterations of human civilization that started, grew and ended and restarted all over again. Mother Nature just reclaiming the earth before humans start again.

it's always comforting to me thinking about how the world would fare without us. the only thing that made me sad about this video is probably our pets being alone thinking where we've been. but yea, they (the rest of the world) are all still better off without us.

You may want to rethink the whole “diesel generators being stored in cool water tanks” thing. The diesel generators run pumps that keep the radioactive fuel rods stored in cool water. And without this cool water the fuel rods will heat up to the point of melt down. Also diesel generators can’t run without air idk how you expect them to run “stored in water” .

I would love a video on how life on earth would be like as another species with your take on it. It would really be interesting because if we look around the animal kingdom, there are a lot of contestants who would qualify as the next 'human' species.

videos like this really helps me destress. Something is so calming about seeing the world as if we were never here <3
