Wednesday 4 January is day 108 of the Save Sydney Park blockade and NSW police are 'facilitating' the WestConnex toll road project's grab for a big slice of the much-loved park.

But it's important to remember that no matter what the provocation, you should always cooperate with your local police. Activist Paul Jeffrey demonstrates how you should deport yourself if the local constabulary ask for your details.

Unless they reasonably suspect you have committed or witnessed a crime; are arresting you or are giving you a move-on order you don't have to give them your name or any other details

The idea is to conduct yourself within the law, but know your legal rights as they will try to strip you of them.

You don't have to supply ID unless you are suspected of committing a crime

Unless they have reasonable suspicion that you have committed a crime they have NO RIGHT to your information. They will lie and say you have to give details but they are allowed to lie. You legally don't even have to talk to them unless your LEGALLY detained for a crime or under arrest.

hmm. 30 seconds to give em the card n then go on your way, vs 10min of arguing and wasting the coppas time, If you are innocent then what have to got to worry about?

Refusing to tell your name is suspicious in my eyes.

I'm not really sure why the Police are asking if they have any ID. They don't need ID.
They just require name and address.

the surname is a 'name in surety', it is not your family name. it is a legal name titled to the government that created it...
