45 min webinar followed by Q&A with Prof Kristian Krabbenhoft, founding partner of Optum CE.

When doing 3D FE calculations you need to decide on which friction angle to use: Should you use the Plane Strain friction angle or the Triaxial friction angle?

As the friction angle is dependent on the stress state the answer is not that easy. In situations with plane strain often the plane strain angle is chosen but how about 3D calculations? Here the stress state is somewhere in between the plane strain and triaxial state - so which one to choose?

In OPTUM we have found the solution to the problem and invite you to join this webinar for the first-ever presentation of our new sand model

FASD Sand: Friction Angle Stress Dependency Sand

With this 45 minute webinar, we will give a short background of the underlying model assumption of FASD Sand, discuss the model in context with the bearing capacity equation and finally demonstrate it on some simple foundation problems including an onshore wind turbine foundation.

Webinar content:

• Friction angles in sand
• The bearing equation
• Foundations and shape factors
• 3D calculation of large foundations
