Used to do that second idea (frozen cup holder for tea light) when we lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin but I used them for luminaires to line our sidewalk and driveway at Christmas. Did the same thing but on a larger scale with 5 gallon buckets and large 3 lb plastic cottage cheese tubs. Lined them with pine cones, evergreen boughs from trees or my shrubs, and pyracantha berries. Put them outside and usually the next day, totally frozen ! So beautiful.. Thanks for taking me down memory lane. Great ideas.

As a military wife, for one of my Christmas coffee's I made 36 of these beautiful Ice sculptures to hold my candles to line my driveway and front street. I used #10 cans with a cup in the center and held down with rubber bands until they froze. The night was magical!

Another trick my grandpa taught me was to take a screw or eye-loop style hook and screw it into the wall by the backside of the Christmas tree and take fishing line (because it is usually clear) and tie it around the trunk of the tree and then secure the other end to the screw or hook on the wall. It holds it so pets and kids don’t knock over the tree.

You can do themes also! One gets Santa, another snowmen, bells, on and on! That's how we have always done it!

My mom & dad made frozen luminaries one year using the gallon ice cream pails and plastic cups for the inside. They lined them up along our driveway.. and it was so pretty! We lived in southern Missouri, so they only lasted basically one night, but if you live where it's cold, they could last a long time.

You could also coat the cranberries for topping the cake with sugar for a beautiful icy look.Ornaments for the tree, use pipe cleaners to attach 3 ball ornaments together in a cluster and attach to branch. Putting apple cider in crock pot along with whatever spices you like, you have hot apple cider all day Christmas day. Delicious! Merry Christmas to all!

I've always done the assigned colour scheme wrapping paper with the kids, they love it and it's easy for distributing!!

I also do minimally outdoors… but I have always used that little bowl trick to cover the connected cords… one thing I can offer is to tie the cords together so that they don’t separate in the bowl. Or just use some tape to bind them for the season. But still inside the bowl. Edit:
I have five kids and had to do the wrapping paper situation so they would count them for “fairness”.
And!!! You just gave me the PERFECT WAY OUT OF A LONG PAIN STAKING CAKE SITUATION I FIND MYSELF IN annually! THANK YOU
