Research that maiden name and get a birth certificate sent to you. Anyone can order a birth certificate, if The birth certificate you’re ordering is not yours, it just won’t have a raised seal. You can also check the department of public records and check out the parents names as well. Get discreetly nosy. Ask about elementary and middle school years (tell stories about yourself so she’ll feel more comfortable sharing) but listen out for the name. Then go find old yearbooks (they have these online and sometimes at the school itself). There’s a thousand ways you can find what you want. If all else fails and you don’t want to do the leg work yourself, hire a private detective. Have the receipts when you sit down to talk about your suspicions and know what you’re gonna do so ahead of time if you’re right (there’s no sense in rocking the boat if you’re still grappling with indecisiveness or denial). I think he should gently ask her, but after he does his own FBI work. Check old yearbooks from her school. I would be really careful opening that can of worms. As much as I’d want to know I would step back and really think before I acted. An accusation like that could ruin the relationship, a truth like that could ruin the relationship. If he loves her, which you can see he does, it would completely change the way he sees her and possibly himself. Oh my lord what a tough situation.
