Dr. Scott Mosser of the Gender Confirmation Center has created a Q&A video series around top surgery for trans men, non-binary and gender expansive folks. This video explains why some surgeons do have a weight or BMI requirement for FTM/N top surgery and why his practice doesn't.

Is weight/BMI related to why a lot of your patients seem to have one single line across their chest rather than two incisions? Or is that for a different reason?

Is it smart to lose weight beforehand? I heard something about weightloss before surgery can have an affect on results due to loose skin.

I haven’t had the surgery yet but they told me to prevent the sides of my chest from “dog earring” I need to be within the “normal” range or under.

I have a 44 BMI and my weight mostly is around my stomach, I’m fine with having a dad bod personally but my mom wants me to lose weight beforehand because of possible complications. Is that like a true thing or is she jus worried?

Are there any other surgeons without BMI requirements? I’d go to missed if I could but I’m on the opposite side of the US. I’m in Ohio.

I was worried about this because i weigh in 250lbs although, I’m not very large, a lot of my weight stems from my hips/buttocks, and thighs and am around a small b cup but i’m a little picky at what type of incisions i would like to receive because i’ve seen so many people who are heavier get rounded incisions like this: ( as i was very interested in finding a surgeon who could make as straight as possible incisions or one that is straight but then goes up into the pectoral muscle (so it gets a lot cleaner look) Thank you for clearing some of the information!
I also have a question (it may be a little silly) but because you do nipple graphs is it possible to do a nipple graph into a shape of a star or a heart rather than a basic cookie circle shape?
