The hardest part of ADHD is not noticing that youre being distracted. Never mind the actual piece of being distracted itself.

I started doing drugs 23 years ago as a teenage, got addicted to cocaine. Spent my whole life fighting cocaine addiction. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Cocaine addiction actually destroyed my life. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.

The hardest part is being told by my professor “You need to get out of your own way”. Pshh.. it’s difficult when you’re trying your damndest to concentrate and everything that you read or that comes out of someone’s mouth seems to make no sense. It’s like overthinking about nothing.

Having ADHD is like having two minds within one body...one mind seems lazy and does not want to really put in effort, on the other hand, the other mind is about potential and wants to achieve. In the middle of these two minds is YOU. I think the ADHD meds work so well because it “turns off” the lazy, complacent mind allowing YOU to do what you want. The downside is though that you have to medicate for as long as you need to achieve what it is you are going after, which in my case has been almost 10 years and counting. The mind is a fascinating thing and I agree the stimulants are a huge help in my personal case. If you take stimulants in a responsible way under the docs supervision, stimulants are a godsend.

So glad I just found you! Today is day one on medication, one week out from being diagnosed with ADHD at age 36. I so relate to the winning streak-crash cycle. It took me almost a decade to finish school. I’ve felt like a loser for my whole entire life. I achieved stuff but it seemed like it took so much more out of me than other people. The more I learn, the better I feel. Thanks for the insight!!

Is it a symptom if you feel like you find yourself very often “negotiating “ with your body? Like: “Come on dude, you know you have to get this thing done, come one, just do 5 minutes” but your body is like: “nah”, clicks on another youtube video and I can’t do anything to stop it. This applies to me for waking up early, practice my instrument, trying not to eat junk food, doing homework, and the list goes on. It has to be something very urgent so my body accepts to cooperate with me.
Tomorrow I will start my tests for ADHD with a neuropsychologist. If I find out that I have it, it would be a great relief. But if I don’t, then that also will be great because I can work on those weaknesses with some help.

One difficult aspect is trying too hard but get little.

I can relate 100% with this. It's a nightmare. Anyone that doesn't have this condition doesn't have a clue as to what we go through.

I have multiple comorbidities, but finally being diagnosed with ADHD at 28 and starting medication.. wow.. I had been mostly unemployed for 8 years (mind you i was raising a child alone) but 2 weeks on ritalin and i’d finished a course i had to keep deferring and got a full time job. My emotions are so much more regulated. It’s incredible. Hyper focusing is no joke. ADHD and everything that comes with it is exhausting. Thanks for your videos!

Dropped out of college and joined the military. This actually helped me surpass most of my issues but you always seem to hit this brick wall where you need the help. There's also the stigma that "everyone has ADHD" and we all just need to learn how to deal with it. Yes and no.. there's for sure a spectrum and being honest with a therapist is the best thing you can do

Not only did my girlfriend support me in my journey to getting help and adhd meds she too got help for her trauma and I am so proud, and I'm not sure if it is because of me but having an open dialog about mental health is important as hell in a relationship

I was diagnosed two months ago and this video basically tells my life story . I was nodding my head the whole video saying “yeah same”. It’s so great to hear other people’s stories and know that I’m not alone.

Cant thank you enough. After seeing a lot of scary video's on this I feel better now. I felt you were describing me through the school EXACTLY. I have never thought about talking to someone and now have through a good friend and starting my journey in two days. This gave me the upbeat perspective I was looking for, thank you.

"The medication should only be the beginning." I learned this the hard way. Sleep, diet, exercise are all crucial. This is a great video. Nice drone on the shelf. Where did that knight come from?

I’m 45 now but was undiagnosed as well. Barely graduated HS. Got my bachelors degree but it took exactly 10 years, full time the whole time! 😂 But now my career has gotten to the point where I can no longer manage on my own. Went to the doctor last week and I’m going to get tested tomorrow. Hopefully there’s something to help me.

i relate so heavily to the high school and university stories you shared in this video, it's kind of cracking me up. i really used to tell myself i worked better under pressure or that "things will be different once i get to the next school/semester/etc"

Thanks for sharing your experience and bringing awareness to this topic. I'm sure many people can relate to this and it can help people feel like they're not going through all these similar struggles on their own. Appreciate it.
