Thank you for being so completely honest about your past. I think a lot of us have had some of the same experiences, and it's great to hear someone speak the truth.

I am 30 and was diagnosed with ADHD a few months ago. I am now being prescribed 15MG ADD XR, per on request when I wasn't prescribed i would buy the pill form and it would wear off after a few days and I wouldn't feel it at all. So I told my doctor the extended release are better because in the past i did take those as well but were harder to get and it worked really well with my body. I won't get my dose until a few days from now, I am excited and happy because for the past 3-6 years my ADHD has been kicking my ass and It's to the point where it's hard to focus and think clearly and articulate i feel like I have constant thunder clouds in my head and it's always a storm up there and the brain fog and exhaustion is crazy...

I was on adderall IR 20mg 2-3x daily (depending on my day) for the last 5 years. Around the 4 year mark I felt like my medication wasn’t working like it used to. Sure- I was getting through the day but I wasn’t getting as much done as I should be. A lot of the unmedicated ADHD symptoms came back.

I talked to my doctor about a month ago about this and she said well there’s 2 options- we can increase your dose of IR or we can try XR and a smaller dose of IR.

Personally- if I was taking IR I knew I had to take my last dose before a certain time or else I wouldn’t be able to sleep well at night… which I often forgot to redose before that time so I was stuck unmedicated.

I ended up going with 30mg adderall XR and 10mg IR 1-2x as needed.

For me, the XR was a game changer. Sure it takes about an hour to kick in- but what I’ll do is wake up about an hour and a half before I need to, take my meds and go back to sleep. When I wake up for the day I’m already ready to go. What I love about it is I don’t feel a huge dopamine drop in the middle of the day. Around the 5-8hour mark of the XR I usually take an IR. I haven’t had to take a second IR since taking XR so for my refill I just told my doctor I just needed 30 instead of 60 of the IR.

Every one is different and I’m glad I made the change!

Hey bro I appreciate this video a lot man, I went years without any health insurance and couldn’t afford my meds. It took a lot for me to go to the Dr. And get back on the horse.

Thank you so much for breaking down the time line, and how it totally fucks our day up.
hopefully my doctor can understand this, because its so fucking to fight adhd,
and people are angry at your because just can't pay attention, to them or work.
The quality of life falls to shit, when your fighting a invisible disability.

I take adderall. Daily. I have 'moderate to severe' Adult ADHD. In all honesty, all people with diagnosed ADHD that take adderall that I know, myself included, makes me very calm, relaxed, and even sleepy at times. More like a tranquilizer. I wish it gave me that bump it gives you. Don't get me wrong - it works incredibly well for me and managing my ADHD symptoms, but I never get zippy off the shit. It's closer to a Valium for me.

Super helpful video. Thank you.
Your explanation is pretty practical and relatable.
I'm still in the titration period for Adderall XR, just recently diagnosed ADHD.
But I'm already noting the unpredictability of the timing/window.
While I initially thought one and done would be the most straightforward and effective way forward for my meds, I can certainly see how I would appreciate the freedom to have a 4-hour window for certain tasks, rather than getting locked into being under the influence of the medication for the entire day. The choice, control, and consistency of IR sounds appealing and I relate to your thought-process there.

Im amazed how you are able to get adderall as a recovering addict. I told my dr a smoked weed and i feel like they havent offered me as many things as they could have for my issues because of that.

Just started my meds today and was kinda scared. I’m 24 and had no idea I had ADHD until now. Thank you for this video because it helped me realize everything is going to be alright.

This is EXACTLY what I’ve been thinking!!! I’m switching to the regular adderrall because I’m overprotective and less focused on the stuff that ACTUALLY matters.
