Karen Davis is a senior scientist at the Krembil Brain Institute. She is a pioneer in using electrophysiological and brain imaging approaches to investigate acute and chronic pain, and is active in neuroethics.

Her current focus uses brain imaging and how we respond to sensory stimuli to understand brain changes associated with chronic pain, and individual
factors that contribute to pain sensitivity and chronic pain treatment outcomes.

Her research is being used to develop personalized approaches to pain management. Karen previously served as president of the Canadian Pain Society and is the Editor-in-Chief of PAIN, the journal of the International Association for the Study of Pain.
