nocireception is the physiological indicator of damage to the body, pain is the subjective experience of that damage, suffering is he perception that you have been damned

I am under-reactive with pain so often don't fear it but the idea of needles really gets me. Is this the nociception part of my brain firing up to avoid potential issues?

Interesting.

Unless you have chronic pain because the nociceptors still fire well and truly after the initial trauma to tissues.

I've had three surgeries on my hand and Jesus Christ I really regret going ahead with the third surgery. I've woken up every single night since surgery and the days are painful 90% of the time and any period of reduced pain is followed swiftly by pain which sends me to the verge of breaking down.

The natural progression of tolerance to the pain medication has resulted in me seriously contemplating the gravity of increasing the dosage on an opioid and how there probably won't be any turning back.

Both the use of narcotics and absence of narcotics both lead to really shitty situations so I really don't know what to do.

My doctor said he can do it but there are negatives.

Where does it go when a house fly senses a nociception signal, it does not feel the pain but it can sense damage. I findi t a bit difficult to imagine how you can feel damage but no pain?
