Stand in range to a wall. Press the wall in the punch position. Feel. You will understand everything.

It’s common for coaches to tell fighters to squash the bug or whatever when they’re throwing the cross but students overdue it and like 75% are off balance and are standing on their front leg on impact. Especially in mma. Nobody talks about this butl this video has addressed it. Finally. Hopefully it catches on.

From the ground to the shot. Solid foundation=more impact. Nice.

Not a boxer but commenting that the same principle exists in weight lifting. If you’re squatting on an unstable surface or ice, you can’t lift as much. Weight lifting shoes are one of the ways this is addressed. Cool to see this principle in other areas!

There are so many ways to punch... It's why i think a fighter should become punch fluent. So that a good punch is always available from any position.

Its good that you are going into detail about the stance. I have done TKD, Japanese JJ, and Wing Chun all of which teach the value of your stance. Just like you can't throw someone from a weak stance it dramatically changes your punching power as well.
Good job mate. This is the sort of thing that people need to be learning at the core of their boxing. Knockouts, besides being cooler, means you don't have to dance around the ring for way more rounds hoping that your opponent doesn't hit you. I am with you, i would much rather knock someone out, longer a fight goes the greater the chance of making a mistake.

Good advice!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 This is crucial in all martial arts. Gripping the ground makes your punches a lot more solid.

Probably one of the best boxing tips I’ve seen.

Love this, the fundamentals are so important, and often overlooked or underrated.

bro, you pointed out something that I didn't even realize

I actually feel the punches stronger in my hands, and the speed of my punches increased if that isn't weird but that's my results.

Respect bro.

This is why I believe that a proficient boxer is a formidable foe to the martial artists that employs kicks as a weapon in their form. A boxer will take advantage of the off-balance opponent and deliver devastating blows.

I don't know man, everything you said here sounds like what I learned in Shotokan or wing chun, but those guys can't punch nearly with the same power as a boxer.

In the 1970's Black Belt magazine held a secret test where they had martial artists from every art they could think of, throwing punches at a bag with sensors. The traditional artists all had their feet planted throwing 300-400 pound punches, while the boxers moved their heels while punching threw 800+ pounds.

The report was buried because it would have been devastating for the traditional arts, which BB magazine was trying to prop up as granting semi mystical powers.

If your way works for you, great. For me it's squashing the bug.

Great video. Explains different concepts very well. Power punchers, hybrids, and point scorer volume punchers. 👌

I did everything right according to you, but recently I started doing heel-toe on cross while it traveled and planted at the contact, let say I was on ice then landed in mud.

Good instructions, Oliver. Hey, are you Jesse's brother, the karate guy? Your tips are much like we learned in kung fu class, the rooting to the ground, gripping it. It also helps to train barefoot, you will train feeling, strength, balance, etc. and will be better than shoes. Then the shoes will give you more grip later, to maximize the barefoot skills.

I used the term "like on ice skates" and it meant gliding and powerful movement on feet. And a perfect pivot on hooks. Footwork is everything. Power generates in the legs and hips. Having feet proper planted during various shots is crucial.
