Delta recruits from the army. You can be a guy from an average unit, if you have combat experience and the physical capabilities and some basic skills (navigation and basic survival skills) you can pull it off and end up in Delta. A few years ago, Delta made the inspired decision to actually recruit from the rank of E-4 Specialist. This improved their prospects significantly. Now, Delta is open to recruiting from other branches but over 95% of recruits are from the army.

My team that i command were supporting some Delta's ops and did backing up devgru on several occasions as QRT when I was active so I had first hand experiences with how delta and devgru operated.
Long story short, JSOC deployed delta when they want the job done wwhile with Devgru/seal team 6, we got two books and a movie deal for the op.

Just wanna say support the troops no matter if they’re special forces or not a new former Delta they are bad ass and I got the chance to meet a seal. They are also really awesome. They both do their jobs amazing as an American knowing that seals will come after me or any special forces if I’m ever in trouble in a different countryit’s nothing like to describe
