People have different buoyancy. It’s that simple.

I became a seal for all the free fish, and all I had to do was balance a ball on my nose every now and again.

Him immediately validating your decisions makes me extremely happy that I find him as wonderful as I do

Dude. 👏. You are my hero. The amount of times I’ve tried to explain to people that I DON’T FLOAT. Thank you.

As a non-floater, anytime this comes up NO ONE believes me. Theyd rather watch me drown while they say "just relax"as i sink like a rock LOL

He's 100% correct. I'm one of those people that doesn't float. My aunt tried teaching my how to swim when I was little and she ended up throwing up her hands and telling my mom that I don't float.

That's what makes David Goggis so nuts. Quite nearly fainted of exhaustion and drowned crossing the Arkansas being starkly reminded of my non-bouyancy back in my party days.

At swimming club the coach said you just have to relax and you will float. So I just lay flat on my back at the bottom of the pool until she got the message.

I couldn't get into ranger school because I couldn't pass the swim test, where you swing in full uniform with web gear and a rifle. My leadership weren't happy about. 1SG sent me to a swim instructor, and he told the my technique was find, but I don't float. 1SG asked him what the hell that meant, and the instructor straight up said "I've seen rocks sink to the bottom of a pool slower than him, so if you ever need an anchor, that's your man right there."

My science teacher in high school was a SF vietnam veteran and he had that problem too. He said as soon as he stopped swimming, he sank like a rock. He was even tested by doctors because they were amazed. He was a great man and a fantastic teacher. He sadly passed away about 8 years ago from cancer.

Same. And I can’t pop my ears past about 12 feet due to tubes in my ears as a kid. Land fighting for this guy

I don't float, but don't sink like a rock. I do a great impression of a diving submarine, feet first.

Asking a Delta guy why he didn't become a Seal is like asking a Michelin Star chef why he doesn't work at Arby's.

He is 100% correct. I’ve had people try to teach me for years and all gave up. Not because I’m a difficult student but because I sink like a rock. I have never been able to float.

Same here. I was 11B infantry on fast track in my stretch. Not to toot my own horn but I was a stud. I kicked ass at just about everything i did military related. I just loved it. As a Midwest hillbilly who grew up on the Illinois river, I got very very humbled when it came time to tread water. Swim? Sure. I'll bang that out. Sit there and not drown? That was a whole different set of muscles for me.

I can picture his buddies messing with him “yeah man everyone floats”
