I don’t think you give yourself enough credit. Not being familiar with the science fiction world doesn’t reflect your level of intelligence. It just means you’re not into science/science fiction. You are smart and worthy! Xoxo Happy New Year❤

It’s so cool to people’s different perspectives on books! I read The Midnight library this year also, and LOVED it! It’s one of my five star reads from this year.

I love how we differ on books. I loved the Midnight Library, and I enjoyed Where the Crawdads Sing and I DNF'd Book Lovers, lol.

You didn’t talk about the passengers that’s one I really enjoyed

I had no interest at all in reading “Where The Crawdads Sing” and for some reason I just felt like reading it so I did and I actually loved it and gave it 5 stars. It made me cry like 3 times and I thought the ending wrapped everything up perfectly lol.
You skipped talking about “The Passengers” I was hoping to hear your thoughts on that one.

WOW, you did great! The Midnight Library wasn't for me either.

I almost dnf'ed Dial A For Aunties. There was one part that really bothered me and I think about it every time someone brings that book up but nobody ever brings up the part that bothers me. It was almost a 4 star for me but I dropped it a star because of that part. It's a spoiler so I won't mention it.
Everyone seems to love Jar of Hearts. One of my most disappointing books of the year. The plot was great but there was way too much filler that took away from the story. I explained the whole story to my best friend and she said it sounded amazing. Then I told her all the extra stuff that took away from it and she was confused by it. Same bff, same. Glad you loved it.

I'm not sure if I've already mentioned this in one of your previous videos, but you've made me realize that I read too many new releases too. Trying to pick up books that were published before 2020. I read a book from 1994 and it was pretty good :)

I loved The House on the Cerulean Sea and Dial A for Aunties was fun! Definitely think you should try Night Film! I picked up The Inheritance Of Orquidea Divina based on your recommendation, planning on reading it in 2023!

Often I get into books thinking that I would love it but halfway in I am like I don't like it...any tips?

I really loved Discovery of Witches which is not my usual style of book. I enjoyed the series but some parts were slow for me just because it’s not my popcorn thriller genre. I never trust goodreads award winners 😂

I wasn't a fan of No Exit.
Ahh I love Discovery of Witch. 😀 I think Thursday Murder Club is best on audiobook. 😀
I like the idea of Sci-fi but not a reader of it either. I think I like watching it more than reading it. I read All Systems Red too, but couldn't tell you what it's about lol.

You did awesome with this challenge! Like you said, the important part is learning about what you like... that's been a big thing for me this year, too. Hopefully 2023 will have even more winners for us!

Now, please kindly get your best books of the year video up because I'm reading Booktubers' favorites of 2022 in January and I need one more! Although based on this, I'm pretty sure it's going to be one of three books I've already read. 😆

When you mentioned that you liked Skyward, it made me wonder if YA sci-fi in general might be a good way to become familiar with the conventions of the genre, and that might help make adult sci-fi more enjoyable for you later? Although I totally get not being into sci-fi. I'm not huge into it either.

Also, totally agree about Where the Crawdads Sing! It was quite readable, but I don't think it will stick with me and I don't really get the hype

I agree, Where the Crawdads Sing was very overrated.

Didn’t like the Midnight Library either but I loved How to Stop Time by the same author. This was a fun idea so please do this again next year!
