Great list. I recently read the Auctioneer and I enjoyed it. A very slow burn but it was well worth it. I’m also a huge Rosemary’s Baby fan, planning on re-reading the book this year.

Awesome list, I actually put a few on my to-read list that I hadn't thought about before. I'm trying to read through a bunch of horror classics; The Stepford Wives is SO good!!! I also read Psycho next year and the book does such a good job at really giving a picture as to why Norman is so messed up.

Amityville is a good story, can't wait for you to experience it. I have the second book but haven't started it yet.

Haha oh damn, I've gotta read some Joe Hill then!

All these books have a common theme, gorgeous covers and font! 😍

Best of luck with your 2022 reads!

Just this morning I was wishing that more BookTubers offered reviews and recommendations of older or lesser known books, and voila! Here you are! Thank you so much! 🥰🥰🥰

This is such a good list. I recently finished Hell House. The writing style is dated, but the story still holds up, creepy book! I am reading R. Saint Claire's dark collection called "Women in Trouble, " and I just picked up Chouette by Oshetsky (I THINK it's horror, but I'm not sure), and I'm looking forward to Steve Stred's upcoming Mastodon because who doesn't love a good creature feature?🙂

You're diving into some classics! I'm scared to read Flowers in the Attic. Anyone f'ing with kids gets to me.

A lot of those books are on my TBR (eventually), but specifically this year, I'd like to read the following:
Cycle of the Werewolf by King
Mexican Gothic by Garcia
The Winter People by McMahon
The Terror by Simmons
Clown in a Cornfield by Cesare
Hex by Heuvelt
Haunted by Palahniuk
Annihilation by Vandermeer
Julia by Straub
Dracula by Stoker
Horrorstor by Hendrix
The Mailman by Little
House of Leaves by Danielewski
December Park by Malfi
Jaws, Jaws 2, The Deep by Benchley
Little Heaven by Cutter

I hope you love The Shining! It’s my favorite Stephen King book, which I did not see coming because I actually don’t like the movie.

I have to recommend the audio version of The Keep. I reread the book on audio a couple of weeks ago, and I was entranced. It was SO good.

The relic and it's sequel are decent. But I recommend the later books in the series starting with Brimstone. Dance of Death. And Book of the Dead. They make a solid trilogy.

Hellhound Heart was really good, I really dig Clive Barkers writing style. I want to read more Valancourt books this year. I feel like I am always worried about new books that are coming out but I want to give some love to the classics.

I too am trying to read what I already have instead of buying more lol, some big ones I'm trying to cross off my list are Psycho, IT and The Exorcist. Loved the movies for years and it's time I've read the books.

This video just randomly appeared on my feed and HALLELUJAH I’m so happy because two things: 1) This list is stellar! I’ve read all of the titles you spoke about with the exception of maybe four (?). And yes NOS4A2 was amaze-balls. One of my fave contemporary horror novels. 2) Your hair is giving me life. I don’t know what that hue is, but it’s like this burning coals with flickering embers thing going on and it’s everything. Def subscribing to your channel!

I read the The Amityville Horror in my late teens and it scared the hell, out of me. I plan to do a reread of it to see if it still holds up. I started reading hell house expecting it to be scary as hell, well I think I had too high expectations because I thought the book kinda slow. I didn't finish it but I will give it another shot. Richard Matheson is a great writer though.

Awesome list! Clive Barker is probably my second favorite author after the King. Heart Shaped box is amazing, as is Ghost Story.

The Other by Tryon is superb but his novel Harvest Home is even better, check it out.

Kubrick's THE SHINING isn't much like King's book but definitely read the book, then follow it with Dr. Sleep, King's sequel, where we find Danny all grown up and ... affected.

The Entity by DeFelita is superb, too, but not a companion to Audrey Rose.
