Loved reading, reviewing, and talking about The New Jim Crow a year ago.

I've heard good things about Empire of Pain and shedding light on the Sackler family.

Loooove that blue-green color scheme in your bookshelves behind you. It’s very pleasing, soothing, and compliments you well :)

Also, I just finished Empire of Pain yesterday. It is amazingly well documented and written. It’ll make you hella angry, but yeah, important read!

I absolutely loved the Atlas Six. It’s a deep dive into the main 6 characters’ psyche. I couldn’t put it down.

I picked up Mexican Gothic last year and enjoyed it. I fell in love with Silvia Moreno-Garcia's writing after reading Gods of Jade and Shadow. Have you read that one yet? I highly recommend it!

I love that Sean enjoys manga, comics and literary fiction. So different from each other hahahaha! I'm a fantasy, sci-fi, comics/manga gal myself. :D I've also got The Atlas Six on my anticipated releases list so let's hope we both love it.

Thank you for sharing your endeavor to learn about your Cuban heritage! I'm also a first gen american who grew up a little disconnected from my culture and have found books to be a way to connect (and have even found authors with similar experiences that has been nice to connect to!)

I keep seeing The Atlas Six, I'm not sure if I want to pick it up though. I want to read Master of Sorrows and Ninth Rain!

I’ve set myself a couple of challenges this year. They include read at least one classic per month and I have a list for each month… Ive yet to choose one for December. I also would like to re read at least 5 different books off my shelf, one of which I havent read in 35 years, so that should be interesting. I’m currently listening to Why we Sleep on audio, as you say its bloomin scary in places… made me rethink my own sleeping habits (or lack of them).

The New Jim Crow is such a good one to have on this list. It's so informative, and Michelle Alexander doesn't just use statistics to back her points up. She uses case studies and looks at how our history has previously developed to perpetuate racism as well. She refers to a lot of other books I now want to read too!

I love your nonfiction pics. Most of those are ones I have never heard of and you make them sound so interesting 🧐

I didn’t like Atlas Six. Too much arguing and friction for me. But I do feel like it could be adapted nicely and will totally check that out.

I just requested a good portion of your nonfiction TBR from my library. Also, I loved Bringing Down the Duke. It is what got me into historical romance. It is just a fun time.
