2:20 And now for the good news about peanut butter

In this video, I explain the good, the bad, and the ugly about peanut butter.

First, the peanut isn’t an actual tree nut. It’s a legume that grows in the soil. Its shell is thin and soft, and it easily absorbs chemicals from the soil. Peanuts are one of the most heavily sprayed crops there is; insecticides, herbicides, and pesticides. They’re not usually genetically modified organisms (GMO), which is good, but the peanut crop is usually rotated with a cotton crop that is GMO. So guess what? You’re getting glyphosate.

Peanut allergies skyrocketed by 400 percent at the same time glyphosate was introduced into the environment. I wonder if there’s a connection between the allergies and chemicals in the food.

There’s also something called aflatoxin, which is produced by a fungus that grows on peanuts. Aflatoxin causes liver cancer. As well, many brands of peanut butter are loaded with sugar, chemicals, and hydrogenated oils. Always read the label! Make sure it contains nothing but peanuts and perhaps some sea salt.

Now for the good news! There’s a brand of peanut butter called Valencia which has the lowest amount of aflatoxin. That’s good. When you buy organic peanut butter, you’re getting less chemical contamination. So with Valencia, you’re getting fewer chemicals such as glyphosate, and also less aflatoxin.

More good news: when you roast the nut or germinate it by soaking it overnight in water, you release the anti-nutrients that might irritate your digestive system and increase the availability of the peanut’s nutrients to your body.

There’s a substance called chlorophyll, the substance which makes plants green. Chlorophyll has a similar chemistry to our own blood. It has the capacity to lower aflatoxin. If you consume salad or wheat grass juice powder after you eat peanut butter, you’ll reduce the aflatoxin.

Peanuts are nutritionally comparable to actual nuts. They contain vitamin E, B vitamins, phytonutrients, and protein.

I know eating is sometimes complicated, but I want to educate you about our food supply. Peanut butter is a popular item, and it will benefit you to understand how it can be either healthy or unhealthy.

My wife worked in a pediatric hospital for 15 years. Anesthesiologists paid a lot of attention to kids with peanut allergies. They found a very high correlation between those kids and soy based formula feeding of them as babies.

Spraying chemicals on our foods should be a crime.

You should make a video on how a family of 5, that is border line poor, can eat healthy. Not everyone can afford an organic lifestyle but truly wish they could at least feed their children well.

Thank you. I've been trying to eat healthy but it's so stressful and complicated. The best thing we can do is pray over everything we eat and drink. 🙏🏼

My life has been filled with pesticides, Southern-fried everything, enough gravy to float the Lusitania, enough sugar to make a cube a mile high—and I can even remember when they invented cholesterol! And I’m still alive at 74! Remarkable!

My sister grew up thinking she was allergic to carrots. As an adult she realized she was actually not allergic to organic home grown carrots. It was either something they use in growing or processing them.

I have been eating peanut butter since I was 3 years old, almost 80 years ago. My health is very good. Drs. cannot believe I'm 82 years old . My Dad ate peanuts for as long as I can remember. If peanuts were that bad for me I wouldn't have the good health that I have. If we were to stop eating all the foods that are supposed to be bad for us, for some reason or another, we would starve to death.

Am now motivated to start my penut butter production because in my region we never use chemical spraying nor artificial fertilizer. This is absolutely good news for me. Learnt something and gained a lot. I'll have a lab test to have those bad and ugly things you mentioned listed as 0%. We also don't rotate with cotton we plant alongside maize 🌽. Which we only use animal waste for the maize but nothing to peanuts 🥜.
