Alright, friends, I have to clear the air about that Leighton Flowers response to my video.

But don't fret! After this video, we are moving on to Mike Licona vs. Matt Dillahunty!

To properly exegete Epistle to the Romans one must take into account that originally the Bible have no chapter and verses, it’s a continuous flow like any ordinary letter. So for Dr. Flower to touch on other chapter of Romans to strengthen his position did not violated the rules of proper exegesis.

Thank you, well said. The bottom line, Leighton Flower doesn't want to be wrong about anything concerning Romans 9. He becomes obsessive and childish concerning anything he considers Calvinistic. It gets old after awhile.

Never apologise when you have done nothing wrong, even if it is only in jest.

What concerns me about Flowers is that he only has one focus and that is hating reformed theology, nothing else- there is a lack of love to brothers and sisters in Christ

This is very helpful. You are right on about hermeneutics and exegesis! Hopefully it will not fall on def ears because you are giving Leighton something that can only help him, not hurt him!

God bless

Wow! All of these debate reviews where WD explains how a Christian failed a debate is fine and nobody gets upset, but when WD says that a Reformed man won a debate, everyone gets upset and accuses WD of bias? Give me a break. I've watched lots of debates where the Christian that I agreed with failed miserably. And even if he does agree with Mr. White, WD has proven before that he is more than capable of admitting when his side has failed, so the accusation of bias is unfounded.

Mr. Flowers didn't win this debate. So what? It was his first debate from what I understand. He has the opportunity to refine his debating skills and move on. It amazes me that people can't look at a debate honestly and admit when their side has done worse. People just want to be mad.

WD, keep up the great work. I enjoy watching these debate reviews and listening to your opinion. Don't worry about people getting upset. That's the nature of debates. You can't make everyone happy.

Nate, another 9 hours of waiting!
It will be worth it. Keep up the great work. Loving your videos. I thought your critique and commentary on this debate was really valuable.

I’m no Calvinist for sure but boy did Flowers sound emotional during this. He sounds almost distraught.

You're an amazing person, love listening to you. I was brought up in Holland and Indonesia in a Dutch Reformed home. After immigrating to the US and trying different churches such as Nazarene and Baptist, etc over the next 50 years, I have come back to the Reformed Faith.

Great job Nate keeping your personal view out of this. I really can’t tell where you land on the spectrum of sovereignty and for that I commend your restraint and respect for your brothers in Christ to maintain impartiality. That said, I can’t believe you jk this was an awesome video.

Your impartial observations are refreshing. Keep up the good work, exhorting brothers and sisters, making more and better disciples of our Precious Savior!

God is not the author of confusion, but Leighton may very well be.

Spot on!!

(I've watched 100+ videos from Dr. Flowers. "Flow of argument" is not in his vocabulary. No offense, Dr. Flowers.)

I think Leighton's biggest hurdle was 9:16, where he basically admits atleast that verse in particular is talking about all mankind, but completely misses the fact the Apostle Paul connects it to what he previously says. But Leighton says that's only judicially hardened Israel.

It disconnects it from all of the previous and following verses, if the rest only apply to Israel.

I feel like Leighton's disagreement with reformed theology is is distaste, disgust, and disillusion with any of the doctrines of election.

Apologies, as I may be lost, but it seemed like Leighton presented a sound breakdown here. I’m just wondering, do you have a video where you exegete Romans 9, so we can see what it SHOULD look like?

Listening to Leighton reminds me of a quote from an old Bible teacher of mine: "Speak more loudly and passionately if your argument is weak."

I’m trying to understand the problem here. The topic of the debate was “What Soteriological view is taught in Romans 9?” Why is either debater being graded on whether or not a thorough exegesis was done or not? Both debaters presented their views on Romans 9 equally the same. Both had their own style, but they both presented their arguments regarding the soteriology being taught in Romans 9. Both debaters stayed on topic.
