This also resets the base station (clears the phonebook and names of other registered handsets) and does not deregister the handset from the base station.

This didn't work. Same problem before and after which is instead of getting a dial tone when I hit talk, I get a busy signal sound. This is on all my phones. Additionally, any call made to my number goes straight to voice mail.

Unfortunately there's no way that I know of to reset the base using the base on models without the greeting buttons, and on DECT 6.0 Plus models, there's no way that I know of to remove all handsets from the base using the base. So if you buy a used base with the maximum number of handsets, or the base is broken in a way which prevents handsets from registering, you won't be able to register a handset to it. Of course, the seller would likely make sure the base isn't maxed out before selling it.
