1. stop counting calories
2. stop restricting yourself with "one bite at a time"
3. stop over exercising
4. stop weighing yourself daily
5. stop eating fast food

For me, counting my calories was huge. It made me realize I was simply eating way too much! Especially refined carbs and sugars. I know it can be triggering for some people, but if you’re in a healthy mental space and want to become more self aware, I think it can be a great tool. Now, when I shift into the health “maintenance” stage, I probably won’t keep counting them. But I have learned so much about self control and proper portions, etc, that I know I’ll be able to stay in a good range even when I’m not tracking it! Great video overall, especially for newbies ☺️

This was a great video!
I lost 70 pounds back in 2014-2015 and still enjoyed things I liked…. I keep hearing people say they gave up sugar, but I genuinely like sugar in my coffee and I just want to be healthy but still enjoy things while I’m here trying to live a healthy life… ☮️❤️

So good! Really liked the “one bite at a time” one….so true and didn’t realize that I do that all the time…and then constantly have that mental battle and regret cycle. Will be more cognizant of it now!

Thanks for the tips Katie. You're such a positive light. The struggle is so real, but the key is to keep going. I just grabbed a journal today to write down some stuff. My energy has been really off lately.

This is exactly what I’ve been doing and after a similar history. I have Hashimotos and have spent my whole life doing some sort of diet on and off. I felt like running across this was confirmation that I’m making the right choices. Thanks for sharing your story!

I love that you said you weigh more now than before you lost 45 lbs. current struggle for me right now. Gained 10 lbs of muscle and trying to ditch the scale for good! Thank you for this video… so so helpful!

These are great tips!!! When I went in my weight loss journey I dropped soda, bad carbs, sugar, and I started cooking at home. Grilled chicken, pork chops, steak. Filled up my plate with 3/4 veggies and on days I ate carbs I would add in a sweet potato or quinoa. Exercised daily. Drank lots of water, tea, coffee. Started intermittent fasting. I Went from a size 14 to a size 2 in two years! I’m a 40 year old female and I’ve never felt healthier!

Thank you so much for this video. I actually am guilty of a few of these bad habits, so to hear them said out loud makes me feel like I'm not alone. Like if I am a part of a sisterhood, and it helps me to feel accountable for my actions. You have been such an inspiration to me, and I love doing your workouts on FitOn!

I want to come out and say thank you for this video! I've been lost in my health journey and always fun into a roadblock and you make so much sense and have been the only one that has made sense to me thus far. Thank you so much!

I also became obsessed with calorie counting before and during the pandemic. I lost 26 pounds and looked absolutely incredible, but I felt SO freaking unhappy every day and I was grumpy because I counted every single calorie and I restricted myself so much and exercised like 3 times a day or workout and burn every single calorie and then binge eat at night. I gained the weight back AND more. This time, I’ve been eating food with no added sugars, lots of greens and proteins, and occasional treats within a healthy limit. I’ve lost 12 pounds since December and I haven’t restricted myself and I haven’t been grumpy, hating myself, or obsessing. I’ve been showing up for myself and doing the dang thing. Counting calories didn’t work for me and Katie’s videos have helped me become the person I needed to find to find MYSELF again!!

This was incredible!!! You are extremely relatable - everything you said makes so much sense. I also have hypothyroidism and started my weight loss journey in 2020 but have plateaued since with weight. I do Pilates and a bit of cardio so my body has also become more toned, but I still have a long way to go. I also assumed my body is just going to stay this way, but you inspired me to try new habits! Thank you, I look forward to more videos :)

Your tips are great!! I especially like how you brought up that it is a good thing not to weigh yourself too often. One thing that it can be difficult a lot of us to realize is that when we gain muscle, the number on the scale is going to increase. Again, great tips! Thanks for sharing!
