*1:10* Ya know I can’t but LOVE this scene. Because it captures, PERFECTLY Hopper’s greatest fear; an ant getting an idea. He KNOWS that Flick is right, he knew all along that if the ants ever realized their true power, that they outnumbered the grasshoppers from 100 to 1, his establish of dominance would fall. Deep down he knows he is nothing compared to a colony of ants. He is nothing but big bully who needs to put down others to make himself feel good, just like bullies in real life. It’s just simple low esteem.

Pixar's most hella underrated movie. I always loved this scene as a kid. Cuz it's not about strength, it's about heart. That look when he says, "And you know it...don't you?" when he sees through the bluff. A Bug's Life gets slept on so hard.

And the message is obviously that the ants should lick the grasshoppers' boots and whinge about how some of the other ants are getting food for free.

I love how Flik's eyes widen at 1:11 as he realizes from Hopper's expression, that he *knows* Flik is absolutely right and that this entire charade is one big desperate attempt to maintain control over them.

Hopper proved his own point right, that the moment the ants figured out they didn't need to be afraid of grasshoppers, he was doomed.

Watching this scene today, it's almost like Pixar was foreshadowing what would later happen to Hopper's own voice actor.

Goes to show us that if it wasn't for Flik standing up to Hopper and his herd of grasshoppers, then the whole ant colony would have been forced to be the grasshoppers' slaves for the rest of their lives and even get executed (along with the Queen) by the grasshoppers at one point.

So basically, they all owe Flik a HUGE apology for seeing him as a screw-up and not being able to see that he was the main reason why he was able to defeat Hopper and his horde of grasshoppers.
