The way hopper is so horrified but the chicks are so cute is priceless.

Saw this film in theaters as a small kid. Gave me chills hearing Hopper's yell as he's being brutally mutilated by three baby birds.

It’s funny how Hopper was just afraid of birds. There’s other things that eat grasshoppers: frogs, lizards, cats, mice, John the Baptist, etc.

Hopper tries to escape from the bird but the bird blocks his escape.

Bird: "Where do you think you're going, food? Oh no, you're not going anywhere this time!"

This death can be seen as brutal and adorable. From Flick and and Atta’s perspective it’s brutal and horrifying to watch. From our perspective it’s like “Awww a mama bird is feeding her babies”.

Incredible animation work on that bird. The hops, micro movements, and fluttering bursts, bring a shocking realism to it in stark contrast to the more goofily designed bug characters. You know it's a serious threat with all the ferocity of its dinosaur forebears, one no bug wants to cross!

Holy Shit. Am I the only one who thinks this death was absolutely creepy and brutally staged? The animation team really understood the insect world and their perspective on the prey and hunted animals. The film itself is quite OK. What fascinates me is how creatively people have dealt with this world.

Hopper's death is one of the first really scary moments I watched in an animated family movie as a little kid and even as an adult it still scary.

"Are there a bunch of little girls in this one, too? Hello, girls!"

The most terrifying villain death in Pixar film history. And by far the most deserved.

Pixar: The only animation studio that can make cute little birds seems terrifying

Flik's smug little "Yep 😊" will always be a funny highlight moment for me 😂😂😂

So sad villains don't die anymore and most are forgiven. These scenes are so good

I always noticed that at 0:46 Hopper briefly looks up. I think he was looking where Flik was, realizing how he tricked him again by luring him into an actual bird.

Even though we didn't actually see the result, I can imagine Hopper's death was most unpleasant.

The little chicks jumping for Hopper makes me tear because they’re so fluffy and so chubby and so cute! Mash’Allah

The part about it that made the scene so horrifying to me as a kid is how easily the bird just picks Hopper with its beak, and how real it is to bird movements after all that humanistic quality applied to the insects. The way it darts, the way it peers at Hopper, and just how easily it flits around.
