Gotta say I’m impressed at how good the animation looks even for being over 20 years old.

As much as people hate to admit it
Kevin spacey did a perfect job voicing hopper in this movie

I like Hopper because he lacks the blind arrogance of other villains and is an effective ruler. He is a competent autocrat who knows his limits and works to obscure his weaknesses. That is so rare. Most villains are delusional idiots who think they are unbeatable.

I love how this scene perfectly encapsulates Hopper’s character.

He’s cold, manipulative, willing to use any means to get his way, and above all is intimidating just by being there.

Every ant is terrified even when he doesn’t raise his fists or use violence at all (except when against his own). His threats and demeanor alone are enough to keep everyone in line

His walk is amazing, the long and exaggerated strides slowly asserting dominance for all to see. It's subtle but so impactful.

"First rule of leadership. Everything's your fault."
Gotta say Hopper was a huge p.o.s, but he had too much adult wisdom for a kid's movie.

One thing I noticed that makes Hopper stand out from all the other bugs are all the little creaking and crackling noises he makes whenever he moves his body, like his whole body is made of dried-up wooden sticks. Besides punctuating all the theatrical flair he puts into his hand gestures, it emphasizes how nothing about Hopper is soft, either inside or out.

Also it's a nice touch how his exoskeleton sort of resembles a greatcoat. Really adds to his gang leader role.

Wish we had more of these types of villains nowadays, because you don't see alot of villain who know they can't win everything so they are being ever so cautious, knowing if things go out of order they are done for, like Hopper. He means BUSINESS! Bravo Pixar.

Good idea on Hopper's part to grab Dot and traumatize her early. Then, no matter how old or strong she gets, she'll always have an internal fear of grasshoppers, despite being part of a colony that outnumbers them.

Which is part of why Flick interfering is so important. For a moment that's so important in Dot's life that she'll never forget it, rather than remembering the fear of the rabbid insect, she'll remember Flick's bravery.

a grasshopper is one of Pixar’s most intimidating villains

I appreciated Pixar's depiction of locusts with Thumper, as a grasshopper that went crazed and feral.

"I Swear, If I hadn't promised Mother on her Deathbed that I Wouldn't kill you, I Would Kill You!"
That is such a great Villain Line. Because,
What kind of relationship Did they have?
She recognized that Hopper would want to kill his brother and used her last breath to tell him not to do that.
Clearly Hopper loved her enough or at least felt indebted to her enough to keep that promise.
Molt understands that Hopper Is Not Supposed to Kill Him, but he's still clearly very scared of him!!!!
I feel inclined to bring up that this line is what establishes these two as Siblings, Hermanos.
Is the Grasshopper gang a Family Business? Akin to a Mafia?

None of these Preguntas are nitpicks by the way, I love Iceberg Style Writing.

Hopper acts like a teenager who finally came out of his dungeon looking for his dinner on the table

I Love Molt Telling Everyone Hopper's Worst Fear Right in Front of Him

I truly admire Molt for being the angelic opposite of Hopper. I’d listen to his conversation any day of the week especially about his wicked brother cause I’m a good listener. And I agree with Molt, it is a great story.😄😆😂🤣

Sad but true.

Dammit Spacey. He was a truly great actor.
Why do a lot of good actors have to have such… awful personal life vices.
