Building Muscle is often associated with bulking where the scale is growing with as much body fat as it is muscle and often more. Can you build muscle without adding body fat? How much body fat should you have while focused on building muscle.

Macro Calculator:

Nutrition. We must start with protein goals but it's important to understand the role carbohydrates and fats play in the muscle building process.

Training. Should you train heavy, train to failure, and is either important?

If you want to avoid fat gain while building muscle then let's discuss how.

I went from over 210 lbs to 150lbs by listening and applying a lot of what Paul talks about. Now I’ve gained weight to 158lbs but I actually look leaner and feel stronger. Thanks for all the help Paul.

I watch this channel to help my husband reach his body building goal of getting a pro card. He is retired and has been training for 1 year with one physique show in 40 - 50 age group. After your calculator he showed his results to his coach and the macros lined up almost perfectly with his new training plan for the 2022 season. His Macros were 40 for carbs and protein and 20 percent healthy fats. The body builder option does say outdated but once again there was only a 3 percent shift of 43 percent Ish protein and 17 percent Ish healthy fats. TY so much for the information you provide.

Learn to listen to your body, I learned something from Jerry brainum natural lifter from the 70s, periodization training, lightweight one day medium weights another day and more reps heavy weights and low reps another day you can't keep training hard everyday especially at my age in the 50s you can't because your body can't take it so you need to recover which is the most important thing, Paul revelia knows his stuff, also John Hansen, Jerry brainum these are all natural lifters who competed and have tons of years of experience

Love this! I want to go through a muscle growing “bulk” phase, but nervous about the extra body fat… at 1:48 you mention body fat levels for men, what does that correlate to women?

Hey, Paul. Can you do a video for us cardio junkies who want to put on muscle and lose fat? Is it even possible? I love running and could do it for hours every day if I had the time but I’ve noticed it’s counterproductive to achieving a lean physique of you’re not naturally lean.

Hi and again thank you for your content. Question: should i add exercise to my fitness pal? Or ignore it all together? For the purpose of maintenance

Can you explain or expand on your statement that "you can put on body fat in your next meal"? Presumably that is if you are in a caloric surplus just for the day?

Hello, Paul. It's me again. I would like to sign up for your program in the future after I recover from my show. I am curious about your "Choose Plans." My goal is the same topic in this video. I need more muscle mass. Do I need the "Body Builder" (outdated) plan?

Thanks for reading!

Hey Paul, do you have a video for gym burnout? Latley ive been feeling extreme tired and starting to lose a lot of strength and the gym is not as fun any more

Does lean bulking (1-300 extra calories a day over maintenance) make sense for people who are older and have been lifting weights for years? Can they build any meaningful muscle? Or at that point it's kind of pointless?
