The loss of humanity in leadership is disheartening. 6 weeks after suffering cardiac arrest my employer told me they were eliminating my job. And these are people that constantly pound their chest about how much they care for employees and culture. The great resignation is happening because people finally have said enough to being treated as resources and not as humans.

I started joined a new company few months ago, opening converstion with everyone (in their field) with "I think I am not doing this or that the right way, can you please help me/ explain to me how it works"... Now everybody opens to me naturally, even with the things they know I can't help.

I'm really glad that you're releasing videos again without music, much better.

I had a phone call during the week with IT support where the guy who answered the phone was extremely happy, chirpy which really took me back. The culture in my workplace is one where grumpiness, lack of humour and very direct conversations are common place so this calm with IT support was a pleasant and welcome surprise. I spent 15 minutes talking to him about a range of things and by the end of the call I had completely forgotten why I rang in the first place.
I asked him why he was so happy and chirpy? He replied “Because I choose to be” A thoroughly refreshing outlook and perspective and one which gave me a renewed enthusiasm

The last 10 seconds of this video is the best advice a leader could ever get. I wish more people thought this way.

This message is for someone who needs to hear this and will fully understand it... You are not define by your circumstance or your past. It’s not what happened to you that determines your success in life; it is how you deal with those circumstances that determines your success in life. You are strong, you are capable and practice forgiveness (Forgiveness is for you; forgive your parents or anyone whom we have chosen to hurt us, to begin the process of healing and freedom. Remember: Forgiveness is for you to be freed, healed and happy. It’s a RESET BUTTON) and practice gratitude everyday. This will change the course of your life forever. Love you always and I believe in you wholeheartedly no matter what ✨❤️ - Nat

It's now happening in every environment, not only in workplace.

Spot on, Simon. Thank you. It's almost like some people think if they are cold and heartless in business that this will look better and lead to better results. The opposite is true. Who wants to follow a leader that is cut off from themselves and can't connect with other people, understand people's struggles and remove barriers to success? Humanity in business and government is the way forward. The sustainable, long-term, way, the infinite game. It also happens to be highly profitable, though not always right away.

Good morning ☀️
I agree with you, but only depending on the culture of the agency.
In the world of politics, that is by FAR not the norm.

It's a matter of finding people you trust who won't stab you in the back. That's really hard to find in the workplace.

no music... much better 👏👏👏
and yes... if a person is promoted to a position they know how to do 100% ... then that person will be bored after 3 months.
Promote someone who's 75% knowledgeable, but also provide them with mentors in the line that can assist with guidance

THANK YOU!!! You completely validated my thoughts on not having to be better than your people at their jobs. People sometimes expect that of you and I think it’s ridiculous.

Yes ! There are 135 states of emotions or feelings and 7 basically, and to be better is very important to know that star : auto control, auto motivation, empathy, communication and remastering is reborn, understanding that we need to learn how to learn!

So many managers feel threatened if their staff are better than they are at something. Either it embarrasses them or they think the person will think they could do their manager's job better that the manager does so they feel they have to put them in their place. In that scenario staff tend to move on. I am fortunate enough to have a good manager with the leadership qualities talked about in this video at the moment but I have had a lot of bad ones too.

That’s brilliant 😌 Thank you Simon for highlighting emotional professionalism. There’s also Brené Brown who says that vulnerability without boundaries is not vulnerability (I guess she meant it at work and outside work)

I love the end where you reiterate that leaders don’t have to be better than their team at their jobs in order to be the leader. Leading is not only about being the best at everything and I’m thankful to have a leader like that

Great perspective!! Having emotional professionalism is what would lead to help teams within organisations to develop a friendly bond and strong emotional connect. One of most important traits that present leaders need and passing down this trait to their employees - helping the firm's work culture to improve truly within!

The irony is attempting to be shut off emotionally makes you more reactive and vulnerable
