Looking forward to hearing about how we can protect against skin cancer from the inside out!

This is great to know because I burn extremely easily … even on partly cloudy days sitting in the shade. I’ve had 7 skin cancers in the past 20 years (most were small surgical procedures, but one required 11 staples, and another more recent one required a dozen stitches). I just ordered niacinamide online and it will arrive tomorrow. Many thanks for this information!

I've taken NAM for many years. I've been highly exposed to the sun all my life (60 years) and I'm a white guy living in Australia. All I can say is no wrinkles and I mean absolutely no wrinkles. The New South Wales cancer council sponsored a NAM study many years ago and it had really positive results, most people don't seem to know about the positive effects of NAM.

Do I try to find nicotinamide as a supplement or just shop for vitamin B3?

Oral nicotinamide skyrockets homocysteine. BEWARE. Topical nicotinamide may be totally different, though.

According to the German Bundesamt für Risikobewertung, "For food supplements with daily recommended doses of more than 16 mg nicotinamide, a caution note is recommended that pregnant women should refrain from taking such products"

Problem is nicotinamide elevates homocystiene, which is not beneficial.

I'm a little confused - is it niacinamide or nicotinamide? Are they the same thing?

You might want to also supplement with GLYCINE also very good for your skin and also binds with Histamine so it may be a WIN WIN with Nicotimamide

Foods that have nicotinamide in include "beans, peas, and lentils; nuts and seeds; and soy products" so can I just eat more of those rather than buy another supplement?

Have you read the research from Nature Medicine "The average person should avoid niacin supplements now that we have reason to believe that taking too much niacin can potentially lead to an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease." I actually taken niacinamide for awhile and may have some energy benefits, but yeah. It seems like we may want to get more data on the proper dosage and/or maybe take minimal amounts if anything.

Niacinamide can increase homocysteine, which was associated with increased mortality. There is no free lunch with niacinamide.
