Okay, I agree with the goal of he protest, but honestly I cannot imagine it being very helpful. Throwing soup at a painting to call for climate action doesn't exactly make immediate logical sense, so the majority of people will see it as a stupid stunt even if they're on the protesters' side on the issue. The only discussion this sparked isn't about solutions to global warming, but about whether this protest is dumb or not.

mr president, a second can of soup has hit the van gogh

Perhaps the protestors would be wiser to target charitable art donations from the plutocrats that fund climate denialism and lobby against global climate initiatives. This would garner publicity that focuses global attention on the specific people whose lobbying is largely responsible for the crisis we are in.

Not a fan of the same people dumping milk and food in supermarkets and having minimum wage workers clean up their mess

I think we can care about climate change and not deface paintings. I'm pretty sure people are aware of climate change.

Why Van Gogh though? Why attack art in general? Surely a British MP’s car could have sufficed and made a more relevant impact for the cause
Spin it any way you want but the overwhelming net negative reaction this was always going to receive isn’t going to help

My problem with this is that this, in no way, will not advance climate activism. If anything, it sets them back because of bad PR. Could have been astroturfed

I read the crabs moved to Russia (it is still unknown if they will be conscripted)

From the UK and I haven't heard a single person talk about climate change following the protests. Clearly hasn't worked in furthering a discussion on climate change, the conversation is solely about the protestors and their choice/method of protest

Sam, look up ocean acidification. It's becoming very difficult for anything calciferous in the ocean, in addition to warming waters impacting their food supply.

This is an idiotic segment. Pathetic that Sam Seder can't just come out and say that they shouldn't have done this. These activists made all environmentalists look like they're fucking crazy.

protests should be evaluated on how effective they are.

most normie ppl look at stunts like this and it turns them off of activism. most people are talking about what they did, not the environment.

Literally why? How the fuck does destroying a great piece of art help the environment or inform people about the importance of trying to save the environment. The hell?

Why are they suggesting that only wealthy people care about art? Disappointing take

"Paint thrown on work of art, oil continues being drilled"
Like, the only thing this could do is make all of us look bad. The only people who attack art are fascists, because they hate humanity. You're supposed to be saving humanity!

They claim in this video that the protest was effective? To what end? To me, effective protest effects actual change, not just people talking about it. They casually mention self immolation, people don't talk about that like paint throwing for the same reason people don't really talk about suicide...

What’s truly amazing to viewers in America is that citizens question the police and aren’t shot

7:20 this is such a ridiculous way of looking at this situation.

So if someone goes and kicks a random jewish child in the street wearing something with an Israeli flag on it, is it justified because people are focusing on the wrong atrocity, millions of Palestinian children have been murdered, that person was just being provocative.

It's a dick move, this is a free art gallery and nobody neutral on this issue is going to have any sympathy for this movement when they do things like that.

if they'd use a can of campbell soup, it would have been art in-and-out :D
