BlackBerry Z10 Review!

BlackBerry 10 is impressive, but is it good enough?

The new BlackBerry Z10 is the first major new phone from the company formerly known as RIM in quite a while and it brings with it modern touchscreen hardware with decent specs and cameras, a fantastic screen and solid build quality along with very poor battery life. BlackBerry 10 is a massive overhaul from previous versions of the BB OS with very fluid performance, a gesture based interface and features like the BlackBerry Hub, Story Maker, BBM, excellent keyboard and the somewhat disappointing app selection with BlackBerry World.

I hear you, you're right that's not really the mindset I have when going into reviews. For some people this might be perfect but for most of my audience they're normal consumers who are comparing this vs the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4.

I actually shot a Tech I Like on the Galaxy Note 2 last week but didn't like how it turned out so I scrapped it lol, might reshoot one of these days.

Tough call. I'd lean toward the Galaxy S4 for you just because switching carriers is a hassle but once I get both in to review I'll let you know!

I got the z10 a couple of days ago, and once I got around the learning curve (which is not as bad as some people make it out to be) its turning out to be a really solid phone. The BB hub is certainly one of the best features, though I would recommend keeping your Twitter feed off of there if you are mentioned or messaged frequently there. Also, another great feature is the new Blackberry Link Application for your PC or Mac. It makes syncing your music, photos, videos and docs a snap.

Based on what I've seen with the Z10 the Q10 will probably be pretty decent considering how little competition there is with that form factor.

Great review... I really need to figure out how to get my lighting as spot on as yours :P.

As for the BB 10 OS... I'm not surprised that there isn't much app support. There was virtually no app support for older blackberry OS's that were around for a long time. The fact that there are any 3rd party apps on a brand new OS like this is pretty cool to say the least!

Not planning on doing one, wasn't impressed with the Xperia Z when I tried it at CES (did do a hands on). Check MKBHD's channel for a great review of it.

Nah I was out of town when it came out so by the time I got HotS it was already old news, I just tore in and got to playing haha.

If I could get one at a sensible price, then I could be tempted to have one as a backup / second phone.
If Blackberry can improve its app store (and especially battery life) and generally sort out all the problems that come with the first version of anything, then a next model "Z11" could be very tempting on next contract update.
