BlackBerry Z10 Review Part 1

You have to admit: Android, iOS and Windows Phone have been competing for a long time, and we haven't seen anything particularly revolutionary out of them in the past year or so. BlackBerry has redesigned both its hardware and software from the ground up, and it's reflected in their newest smartphone, the BlackBerry Z10. It has the specifications, with a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU, 4.2-inch HD display, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD recording, and BlackBerry 10. Despite the attempt to regain marketshare, there are a few issues with the software.

It's a valiant effort for sure, but can it compete in 2013 with three major operating systems? We'll find out in the full review. Part 1 of 2.

So glad I went back to BlackBerry with the Z10 I've had the pleasure of owning for almost two months now. I came from iOS 7, before that Android JB, and couldn't get into the hype of Windows Phone. The Hardware on the Z10 is highly competitive in the Mobile OS Market; I must say my favorite Mobile Processors are the Snapdragon Processors. I'm able to multi-task with ease since the Z10 has 2 GB of RAM, which is extremely nice, since Multi-Tasking through huge Memory-hogging Apps is what I have to do on my phone day-to-day. The Camera is one of the best I've ever used; the editing options are by far more superior to iOS or Android standards. The keyboard is flawless and if anything, BlackBerry 10 has an edge on every Mobile OS available in this category; consumers frequent their iPhone's, Android's, and Windows Phones, but, if they were to use this phone for one day from it's stock form, I feel many non-BlackBerry consumers would be amazed at this feat of how intuitive the Word Prediction is on BlackBerry OS 10. I cannot wait to see what BlackBerry has in-store for the World here in the coming months, and it feels good to use a phone that means business, and performs it extremely well! Cheers!

I 'finally' got mine from Canada, and I will tell you it looks, feels, and WORKS amazingly. Wait til you get your hands on it. It will sell many millions and if iOS, Android, Windows users give it a real look, some will switch.

I just ordered one today. I don't like it, but the reason I still ordered is that I did not have so many choices, my HTC RADAR with tmobile died, and I have iphone 5 with ATT, and other android phones did not attract me. HTC ONE was out of stock, so, I chose BB 10. How is the battery? Bestbuy stuff told me that the battery wasn't great. Thanks.

Just a suggestion: maybe have some dummy contacts/emails/SMS messages to actually show the look, feel and flow of those components? As such I'm left wondering how a SMS conversation looks or the email format in the mail app. Thanks.

I like the fact that bb has come to the new tech age. I like the multitasking too. I would like to try one out, but I might stick to my iOS.

What about the battery life? In comparison to the Bold 9900?

I like the design of the new OS. The only thing that I find annoying about it is the animation when opening apps. I think the animation looks too long. How it scrolls to the left everytime

aaron, you should've used the swipe up from bottom bezel to turn it on from sleep!

phone looks beautiful, ui looks speedy and nice, i like the hub, specs seem awesome. but im pretty sure the drawback is gonna be their app market. it'll probably take some time for them to catch up with android and ios on that.

He's referring to the new Blackberry OS vs. Windows Phone. The old Blackberry OS doesn't really count in a comparison against the new OSes that he's talking about.

Agreed. 30 day challenge! This might be my new phone of the year. But I wanna make sure it's a good trade off from my note 2.
