In-depth BlackBerry Z10 Review Return of the Power-user

The BlackBerry Z10 marks Blackberry's return to top form in the mobile arena. There is a lot packed into the Z10 that allows the device to reach different levels of productivity. Spec-wise the Z10 packs a dual-core 1.5Ghz Processor with 2GB of ram. The Z10 has a 4.2" HD display device with resolution 1280x768 (720p), in the rear the device sports an 8 megapixel rear cameras with a 2 megapixel front facing camera. Internal storage on the BlackBerry Z10 is 16GB, which can be expanded via microSD up to 64GB. That a lot of things to talk about concerning the BalckBerry Z10 and BlackBerry 10 OS, some of which I will address in the writing review and then go into deeper detail in the video review below. First of the gesture interface works, swipe across all four corners of the screen to navigate the OS, is a seamless process and quite effective. The lack of a home button or on-screen keeps doesn't hinder your use of the device. The Z10 at 4.2-inches feels comfortable and natural in your hands, yes it does feel like you are holding a blackberry but in a very good way. The new BlackBerry keyboard is very solid and works very well typing, thought the predictive text function will get a lot getting used to ( I thing would work better on a larger screen). In terms of Battery life the Z10 is a beast at 1860mAh, I got about 26 hours of use, with WiFi on, three emails, Facebook, twitter; while using the device. Power-user will find this very useful.

Speaking of power-user, the email client on the on BB10 is solid, and robust, you can add any email client of your choosing, and you email in integrated to your notifications and BlackBerry Hub), you can import your calender as well as your contacts, Meaning you can transfer contacts from gmail, Windows phone and iOS over to your BlackBerry Z10. BBM also got an upgrade with the addition of Video Chat, showing that BlackBerry. Multitasking works well, allowing you to view and close out applications at your choosing; though you can only have 8 apps open at any given point. The Camera on the Z 10 is decent, takes very good still in day light and adequate at nite, you can check out sample photos below and a video sample with the video review.

The contacts app is right at the top and is a fantastic consolidated view of any given contact from multiple sources. You can even combine various contact entries under a single contact if you know it is for the same person. Awesome!

The keyboard technology is insane. There are heat sensors in the screen that help you type better. So for example, when you type you always hit the U key but always mean to hit the I key, it will actually remember that and somehow move the keys, I think, so that you hit the button instead of the U all the time

It also has over a 2000mah battery if memory serves. The Z10 only supports an 1800mah battery.

You forgot to talk about reader mode in the browser. This is very convenient and I don't think any other phones have this function. Especially if you don't have the time or patience for the pinch to zoom thing like me!

Since the update to 10.0.10.85, I can get 24 hours on mine, and I use it fairly regular during the day, so yeah, for a dual core LTE smartphone, that's pretty decent. I didn't get much better with my Bold 9900 on OS 7.1.

Can you do a stress test? Bombard yourself with e-mails by CC'ing to all accounts, and send 5-6 at the same time, see how BB handles it. Do you remember the BBM stress test another site did a while ago, you coult try something like that. Can you pin apps to main menu or will they still automatically slide to the bottom? Can you demo music or video in the background with email? My 9700 would die in just few hours if I listened to music. Does Z10 support location profiles? Is there a death grip?

I wasnt able to finish the video, but did you let everyone know about the Time Shift feature in the camera. That is an awesome feature :) Also, people hate the specs because everyone thinks these days that every phone has to be so super powered and so big, ie, 5.8" and 6.3" Samsung phones coming. Heck, I would like to be able to use the phone all day and not for only 2 hrs before it dies. Plus if the software isnt optimized to use the quad core stuff, then why have it in those other phones

Etteh, remember you can also sideload android apps. I will miss google maps dearly, but I am pretty sure sideload is stil possible. I really hope you can do more reviews of individual functionality. A lot people have questions on dropbox (some complain you cannot pick and choose folders to sync, using up all on-board space, those who have huge DB accounts) or is it both ways sync? Photos/Videos? How about box.net. Remember 25GB deal BB offered with PB. Can you pull up keyboard in folders screen?
