As someone who traded a 75 Walnut SG on a Les Paul Deluxe, and regretted it ever since. Yes SG’s aren’t as boomy or screechy as Les Paul’s. They are blessed with a midrange power that never sounds weak. Usually they are nice and light, good for us boomers backs? They can sound just a little manky, which made me choose my SGJr, over my PRS every time. My next guitar is going to be a Walnut Tribute SG. I’m just so glad they are still out there!

Mine is pretty nice and came with a killer gig bag. I think you just don’t like SG’s! I don’t think it sounds better or worse than the SG standard. I would say the SG standard seems warmer and has the same neck contour.

This is discontinued now. I agree that they weren’t $1300 but mine was worth the $900 I spent when I bought mine in 2017.

Also mine looks like it was made with a 1-piece or 2-piece body that is too highly figured to be used as an SG body. I think that Gibson would use would that has lots of rings, arcs, etc. In these guitars as the SG body woods are traditionally pretty clean looking.
