From Leo: I always enjoy your demonstrations. I am kind of an SG fan, in fact it is the only solid body gibson product I like. Every guitar is different, but when I was in the market for one, The pro model Epiphone SG was just a better feeling, and sounding guitar to me than the entry level gibson. It also had a better neck balance. I bought a red Epiphone. I am still happy with it

Hello from Texas. Great and Honest review of the Sg. I’ve also always found that the Gibson SG’s kinda have their own distinct Sound. If you want to play any AC/DC you almost have to have s SG to do it with the right Sound. One of my Favorite Guitar Players of all time, was Frank Marino of Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. It was very Rare for him to play anything but a SG. They are Great Guitars and really underrated. Everyone wants a Gibson Les Paul. I would Love to Live in Australia, and if I did I would definitely want to have a Jam session with you. Thanks for all the Work you put into these Videos. I’m always looking forward to the next one.👍👍

I absolutely love open pore brown SGs (think faded previously). This is a great deal guitar and one point of difference between it and Les Paul Tribute (which is also amazing) is there is no weight relief due to SGs shape meaning it's that much more "authentic" to the "real deal".
Gibsons tribute series is great stuff man, my wishlist is way too long and there are a few Gibson tribute models up there on it

Ahhhh man, I love this SG! Reminds me of the old Special faded SG’s. Absolutely love it!! Great video!

I love my affordable sg, doesn’t even have a pineapple crown on headstock, dot inlays but sounds awesome

Thanks, Shane. These Tributes seem to be good guitars, but they really shot up in price rapidly. When I first saw the LP Tributes appear on the Australian market around 2019/20 they were around the AUD$1400 mark. Now they are around AUD$2400, just 3 or 4 years later. They didn't remain "affordable" for very long, (aside from in comparison to non-Tribute Gibsons).

Cool vid 👍 I played one of these at my local store the other day and really liked it. The neck was great and I liked it’s neck better than my SG standard. The Gibson Tribute series is really good IMO.

Well, I just got myself the Harley Benton DC-580 in red for lefties. I've seen this Gibson model in the Thomann online store and I really like the finish and the color. Maybe later.

The SG Tribute checks so many of my preferences, especially the maple neck, it was my first ever new Gibson purchase. Mine is also a featherweight and does all the SG things. What more could I ask for ? I guess I would love a P90 wraparound variant for another setup. No complaints.

I certainly like the colour. Looks like what most cherry reds end up once the paint fades LOL. And very much resembles the Specials of the 60's. I didn't particular like the square inlays they used on the older tributes.
But $2400AU for a tribute seems a bit pricey. There's much better options available if you don't particular mind what's on the headstock. These days I'm more inclined to buy a Tokai

I like the classic red look, but it's great to see more options- especially in lefties! Hot pickups, too, making this a rock machine! Fun review, Shane!

Great video Shane! The Gibson SG Tribute is a very affordable guitar compared to other Gibson models and I like finishes that show the wood grain.

I have an older version from 2007 with the mahogany neck. I bought mine without pickups, so I put p90's in it, one of my favorites. I love the idea of a maple neck, I loved that on 70's les Paul's

I went to the Robby Krieger Show at the Whiskey this July 1st, made me appreciate how cool an SG sounds. The Guitar’s a good bargain, thanks Shane you’re awesome

Lovely guitar and well worth the money. Have never understood the complaints which the 490r/t combo gets from some quarters, they're muscular and crisp.

You are a smokin player....as another lefty, it is so good to see all the guitars for us..

Great review!
I love the natural Mahogany grain too!
A good textured strap, will counter that neck dive just fine.
I love the tones you were able to get out of that, both the crunchy and clean, sounded awesome!

Thanks for the video Shane! As a fellow lefty, you have no idea - or maybe you do; a little- how much your opinions and reviews mean. I simply wish the guitar had the smaller pickguard and trapezoid inlays, like the LP Tribute and would be an instant buy. I’ll be waiting for the ‘61 SG. Thank you for the video as always

Got this guitar yesterday- your video did a great part in selling it - it’s one of the best guitars I’ve ever played, my first Gibson after playing for 15 years, was looking for a light guitar that has a powerful sound for my Band - we have a set of about 40 songs so practice is always about 3-4 hours wich made my back hurt a lot. It looks, plays and sounds phenomenal and NO NECK DIVE on mine (I always use a leather strap) I can recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a rock solid no bells and whistles Guitar
