What is El Salvador’s newly opened ‘mega prison’?

El Salvador’s government recently unveiled a ‘mega prison’ which can accommodate 40,000 inmates and 2,000 alleged gang members have already been transferred into the facility.

But why has the country opened such a huge prison?

Forced labour is something all prisons should have. Its not supposed to be a place to hang out, play cards, work out and socialize like our North American mid and low level security ones are. every prisinor should be made to work their days to make back to society some of the exorbitant costs it takes to house, feed and guard them
