El Salvador’s government recently unveiled a ‘mega prison’ which can accommodate 40,000 inmates and 2,000 alleged gang members have already been transferred into the facility.

But why has the country opened such a huge prison?

Human Rights organizations never speak up for the victims, only for the criminals. They're given more rights than what they deserve.

They lost their human rights when they did inhuman crimes like beheading and raping little girls because the ransom was not paid.
Actions have consequences

If these Human Rights Activists preach better conditions and rehabilitation programs then they need to volunteer to step into the classrooms with these gang members and teach til their hearts content. Don't complain about the problem while insisting 'someone else do it'. Hypocrits

Building factories within prison walls is brilliant. Not only prisoners can produce this also keeps their minds off criminal thoughts and reprogram them slowly. 👏👏👏

Forced labour is something all prisons should have. Its not supposed to be a place to hang out, play cards, work out and socialize like our North American mid and low level security ones are. every prisinor should be made to work their days to make back to society some of the exorbitant costs it takes to house, feed and guard them

They sleeping on steel beds with no mattress and only 1 meal a day. Every prison should be like this.

Violent criminals are not human. So no human rights for them.

What about the human rights and violations of the victims of the gangs. These orgs need to stay out of it. They have not helped ES people from the decades of extortion, murders, rapes, torture that these gangs members have committed. No sympathy for these criminals.

Do these human rights organizations make complaints to el Chapo? Or the gangs? About their conduct?

Criminals have to embrace punishment, simple has that.

There comes a point where rules of warfare not rules of criminal justice apply. There was a similar situation in Italy, particularly Sicily, with the Mafia vs. the government.
