This assumes people work an even amount or produce evenly throughout the work week. I know for my job Friday’s are a joke and no one does anything past noon.

The 4 day work weeks are generally 10 hour days. Patrick need to loose this factory work day mentally. Plus not everyone wants to work like a dog like entrepreneurs do. Most people work to live not live to work

That's bull! They aren't losing the labor or the productivity if a company goes to a 4 day, 40 hour work week. I worked 4 10s and got MORE done than I do in 5 8 hr days. His example assumes the 4 day week ISNT also 40 hrs, if the hrs stay the same, then the company loses nothing.

This precludes all companies unreasonable expectations of unlimited and consistent growth to consider their business profitable by today’s standards. If a company is willing to make a reasonable profit regardless of growth month over month then the need to hike prices goes away.

Technically speaking I believe the trade-off is 4 days of ten hours instead of 5 days of eight... which I'm generally ambivalent about but I'm also resistant to unnecessary changes to the norm. Especially in America 🙏❤🇺🇲

No Patrick. That employers employees have 20% more free time to rest, to spend with family, to enjoy life, to grow and they will appreciate that optional freedom. Forcing employees to spend 33% 1/3 of their day to work which let's be honest with travel and time preparing to go to and from work is usually closer to 10 hours a day is just wrong and not accounting for long term health and well being. If you just make it optional for 4 day work weeks and start out with this you can find the extra labor if your H.R. department is worth its weight.

I think one, like everyone’s pointing out in the comments, the hours would just be redistributed around 4 days. Secondly, don’t most studies shows that firms and businesses become MORE productive when implementing a 4 day workweek ?

I was goaded into working for a manufacturing company with the 4 10 hour work week and the bastards basically did everything they could to guilt trip and threaten you to come in the 5th day for over time so instead of a 3 day weekend I was stuck with 50 hour work weeks and in the 5 months I worked there I maybe had 2 Fridays off and that was because I called in or just didn't show up but they really did everything they could to make you feel like you were a piece of shit if you didn't work 50 hours.

Not necessarily true, I work a 4 day week but we work 4 ten hour days, and then optional overtime on Friday. So a normal week for me would be 46 hours, but if I don’t want to work Friday I at least get my 40. No loss in productivity because we get everything done that we need to get done
