I must say, the reason we booked our Alaskan Cruise last year was the dirt cheap price. I believe $2500 for a balcony room. Couldn't pass it up!

Great tips, Matt! The only thing I can think of (which you've smartly covered in other vids and on the blog) is making sure you buy internet, dining packages, excursions, etc. online during one of the frequent sale periods (and certainly not once onboard the ship). Of course, if the prices come down they can be canceled and rebooked but I like to get it out of the way. I do want to say, though, I went from booking my own cruises to using travel agents and have regretted it. For example, I went with CruisesOnly for my Royal ABC cruise later this year and when I decided to move it from October to December it was a mess. First, they charged me a fee (which my booking specifically said they would not do). Then they charged me an additional fee from Royal, saying they couldn't get Royal to drop the fee. So there were double fees. I called for days and days, fighting to get the fees refunded. I also lost the OBC they'd given me. I had an even worse situation happen with an agent I used for my last NCL cruise. I ended up having to file a lawsuit against NCL. I'm going back to booking on my own.

In planning, I highly recommend using the deck plans to figure out where your room is, how close it it to amenities you are interested in. Also, watch some videos from previous cruisers. This helps get you grounded before you step foot on the ship.

Me personally I hate using a travel agent I like to know what’s going on at all times and if you have a travel agent rccl will not talk to you they will only say you must contact your travel agent and travel agents are ppl so they have off days but when I need something done ASAP I don’t wanna wait on anybody else. Plus I’m pretty good at watching cruise fare and getting readjustments when available

Yes I agree. A YouTuber was talking cruising in Australia and said Winter was not a time people like to cruise which is totally incorrect. We have cruising all year round in pre-Covid times. Just have to hope RCL return soon

We tried to heed your advice and use a travel agent, but ultimately couldn't give up the control. Most companies had iffy reviews and forfeited your ability to directly contact RC if you had an issue. I'm sure it works well for some, but I'd rather risk a few minutes on hold here or there than have my vacation at the mercy of a third party.

Me in Aus I feel like the borders are going to remains shut for cruising until mid this year or later. I've booked my cruise in DEC and I'm confident it will happen, hopefully!!!

We had our travel agent check our price on our July cruises and she saved us over $2, 000. THAT'S THE WAY TO GO.

As of 2/15/22 there are no lines for testing in Miami. You can drive right up and right out in minutes. You can pre register and have all your cruise info loaded and the testing sight sends your pcr directly to the cruise line. Some of the locations are open 24/7

Travel agents DO CHARGE YOU for booking airfare (unless the airfare is inluded in the rice of the cruise). It's usually around $50/ticket. So it's always wise to ask ahead of time to know what fees, if any, you might be charged. We still book our air travel through our agent, who is invaluable in case plans change last minute or en route.

Great tips however, I disagree with using a travel agent. The only times I've had problems with my cruises is when a travel agent was involved. They didn't react quick enough to get me special offers or specific flights. They don't work 24/7 and if I want to makes changes to my cruise I have to wait for them to open the office. Lots of times I've left messages with TA's and no one has gotten back to me because they were away and didn't bother to update their voice mail message. Also, every travel agent I know in my area charges a fee. Travel agents? No thanks!

I always watch what @CelebrityCruises does, since they're owned by the same company as @RoyalCaribbean. Chances are, whatever one of those lines is doing will be rolled out to the other line. We also keep in touch with our TA to let them know about any cancelations and also ask about what trends they see in the cruise industry. Our TA specializes in cruises, so he would know!

I haven't been able to find a travel agent that would charge less than 300$ to book my family of three or respond within the week. I was really disappointed about that, but that's what brought me to your videos. Hopefully, I haven't missed anything on my reservation.

Is there any restrictions for the teen club? (the living room and the other room, I forget what it's called). Do you have to register them like the younger kids? 12 and up gets to check themselves in and out, but is there capacity limits?
