Knees hurt while hiking or walking?

Feels like it comes out of nowhere…

Knee pain can occur in the middle of a walk and more specifically a hike for a few different reasons.

These include overuse, muscle imbalances that may be present, increased inflammation, and/or subtle compensations you may be making due to stiffness or pain ☝🏽

Taking a quick break and doing a few simple movements can be very effective to help relieve the pain ✅

The idea is to take stress off the knee and recruit other muscles to help out 🙌🏼

The knee bends help to activate the hamstrings, the muscles in the back of your thighs ✅

Heel raises work the calf muscles which tend to get really tight with knee pain, especially if you can’t straighten your knee all the way ✅

These are two suggestions and there are many others if these two don’t feel good to you ☝🏽

Most of the time 10-20 repetitions can be a good place to start but you can increase or decrease repetitions if needed 🙌🏼

Would this also be good to do as a warm up before a hike?
