When I’m pressed for time or just lazy for a lower body warmup, I do bottom hold goblet squats. When you’re perfectly plank tight at the top and sink down, the traction effect is awesome.

Goblet squats have been a pretty big player in my recovery from lower body injuries.

I’ll use them until I die now

Base of my training is a goblet squat . I don"t need to go heavy. I go heavy on my dumbell clean and press . And kettlebell swing as a warmup . Thats all i do .

I use goblet squats on leg day. I warm up with EMOM swings, then leg press, RDL, then goblet squats. And calves if I have time. For me this is a perfect leg workout.

Putting a pause a the bottom really is an upgrade as is slowly lowering. Picture your self as a hydraulic piston.

Hey Dan, big fan of yours love your videos!
I’ve created my own little workout routine with kettlebells inspired by your advises and am interested in what you think about the following circle, please let me know if you have time:
Rest between all sets is 1 min
1st and 3rd set KB halo 10 reps
2nd and 4th set KB deadlift 10 reps
5th and 7th set KB press 6-8 reps
6th and 8th set goblet squat 12-16 reps
9-14 sets swings, 10 reps
15-17 set supersetting pushups with different types of carry (suitcase, hands in front, farmer walk both sides)

Interested in what do you think of this circuit as a general fitness and what might be missing and can be improved

Thanks a lot!
Regards,
Alex

How goblet squat affects upper body, does it differ in the front squats?

The concept of reactive mechanical impedance is difficult to explain, often makes use of complex numbers, has nasty units, causing eyes to roll. Thought I'd dig a hole this morning. The analogies (bow, rock, scissors) are simple & get to the heart which is book keeping of mechanical energy. Energy always flows the path of least resistance. If energy isn't accepted, it will find somewhere else.
