Triple Play: How to Make 3 NEW 54-40 or Fight Quilts - Free Quilting Tutorial

Women couldn't vote during the election of 1844, but they sure had opinions—and they shared those opinions through quilting. Supporters of James K Polk immortalized his campaign slogan, “54-40 or Fight,” with a quilt block so gorgeous, we’ve been stitching it ever since!

This week, the Doan girls are making three new 54-40 or Fight quilts + two bonus projects, each with a cozy, harvest vibe.

Jenny's Harvest Stars quilt is made with precut layer cake squares from Gatherings by Windham. (Don't miss that pretty, striped binding!)

Natalie's Shine On quilt is made with Dreaming of Fall by Studio RK for Robert Kaufman.

And Misty's Autumn Nights quilt is made with Kona Cotton Colors of Fall.

I’m addicted to Triple Play Day, please don’t ever stop. Watching you three make magic brings light to my life. As a 71 year old beginner quilter, you all are such a source of inspiration to me - I want to be you when I grow up! Thank you! ❤

all three of these quilts are stunning. Nat, experience tells me that if you save the cutoffs for a year, you'll come up with something breath taking. You ladies are so talented.

I think my lifespan just jumped to 139 years old. Love the original 54-40 or fight pattern. Now I have to add all 3 quilts from this Triple Play.

Jenny and her churn dash! That's a shoo fly. She does it every time. 😂

Thank you all!! I really appreciate the references to adjusting for things that might not be perfect, because it removes the fear of "not being perfect" that is sometimes relayed on other channels. Quilting should be enjoyable and achievable, not causing such grief that one doesn't even want to try.

Three creative, fun ideas from one block, fantastic job 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Might I make a suggestion?, along with telling us the name of the quilting pattern used on each beauty might you show a sample? - say with colored thread on a white background square! 🤔

I've been looking for a pattern to use up a Morris Meadow layer cake. Jenny's quilt is perfect! But I love all these ideas and will be having a go at Misty's version as I have a ton of solids to use up! Thank you lovely ladies!
