1. in my 20 years in this business I have found most people want to pay their bills, if they had the money they would pay.2. I did this video to help young people avoid debt traps, and help fix credit if it goes bad.we had a list of questions.some of my tips wereget everything in writingtry to settle for lessdon't ignore letters and phone calls and don't fall for all the here's how to not pay your bill advice (it doesn't help you)and how to dispute the bill if you have a true dispute.instead they cut it all out and had another consumer protector give real bad advice...that doesn't help you rebuild your credit.

You send the debt collector a certified cease and desist letter. If they contact you again to collect the debt after this letter, you're free to sue them. It's part of the Fair Debt Collections Act.

Sure this sounds easy enough how to handle debt collectors, I know a guy that collects and I don't think he gives a shite about the legal issues .

Is it possible to know a debt collector friend that can buy your debt for those pennies on the dollar, and have you pay only that couple percent of the actual debt?

I mean, debt collectors aren't all scary and bad people, and things like student loans will not go away so sometimes it's really easier to make a plan with them that works for you and clears your debt in the end.
Maintaining a good credit score is super useful too, so I'm just saying think twice before deciding to just ignore all your debt for 7 years lol It might be the harder way

They are partially right on the statute of Limitation in Montana. The 8 year limitation on debt is ONLY if the debt is written. Debt such as credit cards fall under verbal contract because you did not personally sign your name. Those debts actually are limited to 5 years. After that they can not sue you for the debt owed.
