I do like theory that the reason why valyrian dragonlords could control dragons, why their 'king's blood' was so valuable (varys was likely a blackfyre, who was bought specifically by a sorcerer who sacrificed his blood to a ritual that seems to have been successful), and these malformed dragon babies, is that they were part dragon themselves. They probably had some sort of the dragon genetics in them, valyrian dragonlords claiming 'we are blood of the dragon' in quite the literal sense. As for how these valyrians came into being, is completely unknown. My bet is on geotd, them being technologically advanced and creating dragons from fire wyrms and wyverns, they could also have been behind whatever the hell was going on with the valyrians. This is just my theory
