Nah, the way Corly’s grabs Luke and pulls the kid behind him to keep him safe. He treated those boys like they were his blood. I LOVE the love he has for them.

At first, I was kinda like "she came at her with a knife and actually cut her, how did he not react more to that" but it makes so much sense and I love it.
(Scuse me I know this is obvious but I studied directing and it's making me geek out)

It shows how they are both autonomous and powerful in their own right, and Daemon lets Rhaenyra be powerful and fight her own battles. Alicent is her adversary, her responsibility, he knows she would both WANT to handle her on her own, and also that she CAN. Rhaenyra is a queen, and a powerful woman, she can handle a few cuts and bruises from her enemies, and she should. She knows how to defend herself, and should. And he always lets her actualize her power but the MOMENT Criston gets involved which makes the battle unbalanced, and he knows she wouldn't be able to handle an armored knight as well - and a man with more strength in general, he's like ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT you've crossed a boundary here. And this shows why they are such a power couple and why Daemon is such a powerful partner, because he doesn't baby her, he lets her be autonomous. He observes and is always there, but does not act unnecessarily or unfairly, like Criston did. It's also poetic justice that it was Daemon, out of all people, who got to put a person that was meant to protect Rhaenyra but betrayed her, after sleeping with her too, in his place.
