explaination: (spoilers, this is from "House of the Dragon" s1, a prequel to Game of thrones )
The king wanted a son. a proper heir to his throne. The queen is unable to birth the child (complications), so the king actually decides to have her cut open to free the baby. The queen dies, and the king has his son... only for the baby to die within a few hours anyways. His only remaining child, his daughter, is the one to give the command to her dragon to burn the bodies of her own dead mother and dead baby brother.
edit 2: I left out that the Queen had MANY miscarriages, but the King KEPT getting her pregnant because HE didn't believe the realms would accept his daughter on the throne. It was not meant to be.

I don't feel bad for Viserys in this scene. I feel bad for Rhaeynera because she lost her mother because Viserys wanted a son.

Daemon loved Viserys more than a brother. I think Viserys is more like a father figure for him. The way he crave for Viserys' attention is like a son craving for his father's attention. Now that Viserys is dead, he lose his grip

Viserys was in the hell of his own making. He put his wife through another pregnancy she didn't want, gutted her open over an obsession for a boy, forced Rhaenyra as his heir even though he had sons, remarried outside the Valyrian blood, overlooked his own sons and never confronted the situation with Rhaenyra's grandsons. His family fell apart over his own choices.

Viserys secretly decided to LITERALLY cut his wife open and let her bleed to death so he could finally have his son. She might've died either way, but the look on Aemma's face as her husband stood aside and allowed her to be murdered removed any empathy I felt for him

He literally brought this on himself and as much as he "loved his wife" she was never more important to him than the concept of having a son. He didn't think twice about killing her and she begged for mercy. He deserved what he got.

Poor viserys? Haizzzz. I'd say poor Aemma. To die like that is horrific. They didn't give her enough milk of poppy to make sure it doesn't 'harm' the babe/heir when they gutted her. Yikes. To be completely awake when you're that scared and be aware that your husband just ordered you to be cut open to save the baby. Brutal. This reminds me of Alyssa Velaryon's fate while birthing Jocelyn Barantheon, but Aemma's got it rougher, imo.

Actually hated what he did to his wife, she didn't even see it coming. Butchered on the spot for a Longshot, she gave him children best she could. I'm glad laena velaryon decided to go out like dragon rider rather let someone decide to gut her like a fish and still have her child die.

My true reaction when i saw the baby actually taken out of her belly by cutting her still remember i was in so much fear for what was happening to her and i was even pulling my shirt when i was hearing her scream in acting was amazing it felt so scene
