Thanks so much for this video . It is very encouraging to see you managing to squat without falling backwards, after only a week ! I am using wedges under my heels as my ankles are very stiff . I am 74 but I believe it's never too late to learn, if one is not too damaged by arthritis .

i’m learning how to do this. It seems like once you widen your stance and turn your feet out, it’s easier to come down.

The thing is your knees are supposed to be inwards but mine they go outwards

it's honestly amazing you got that in one week 😯

i think i'm gonna need a few weeks if not months 😭

i'm practicing it now with the use of a blanket, so i'm confident i will get it in the near future 💪

Several years ago when I tested my deep squat it never occurred to me to start in the squatted position with heels up.

I started with flat feet and lowered myself as far as I could go. Yeah, it wasn’t quite parallel before I fell over backwards.

I spent the next few months in a doorway perpendicular to the frame using it for support as I increased my range of motion. After that, I used a light weight to offset the imbalance and kept reducing the weight over time until my hip flexors were string enough to hold me up.

I'm a big guy (6'3" and around 250 lately) and picked up on it right away when I was stationed in Korea working with the KATUSA and ROK soldiers there. I still find myself using the "Asian squat" today, 30 years later when doing various tasks that would require bending or stooping for extended periods of time. It's as if once you do it, it just naturally becomes comfortable. CHEERS!

did you do anything else? how can you go from not being able to squat at day 6 to being able to squat without falling? and how long did you do it throuout the day> approx?

Thank you for making this vid and showing it thru all the steps, much appreciated. I just wanted to say that before i could see your vid i thought something was "Drastically Wrong" with me if whenever i tried this pose i always fell backwards ( and got real Mad at Me ) . Your vid really helped me with Perseverance - and also i noticed that constantly practicing this pose it also helped in lowering my belly fat by 20%.

How many hours did you practise? Did you do any stretches etc.?
I need to know😂. I've been Practising for a over a year(stretches, getting into the squat for periods of time etc.. ) now and can't do it.
Yes, I've definitely gotten better and have more flexibility/mobility than I did over a year ago but I'm not able to do it perfectly unless unsupported/with a weight as a counterbalance.

I'm however aware it can take longer for some people.
I think in your case you already had all the mobility needed, you just needed to practise actually being in the squat position and getting comfortable in it.
