How do we get back to normal after a period of high anxiety?
I'm an anxiety expert and in this video I explain everything you need to know to stop feeling anxious and get back to normal.

I’m Tim Box. I’m a mind coach and for more than a decade now I’ve been working with people to help them get the other side of their anxiety issues.

One of the most common things I hear people say, is that they want to get back to what they recognise as normal.

The good news is that every human being on the planet can make the changes required to get beyond their anxiety issues. It doesn’t matter what we’ve been diagnosed with or how long we’ve been suffering with this, it’s a basic human trait that our brains continue to grow and learn no matter how old we get.

Well, in this video I’m going to explain the steps we need to take to come out the other side of our anxiety issues and feel normal again.

And the strange thing is…it’s probably completely the opposite of what you’ve been doing so far.

Let me know your thoughts on this one.
Did the idea of getting caught fearing your anxiety response resonate?
Did the points I covered here help with that?

Also, don't forget to check out this one next:

After 25 years of living with anxiety What helped me so far:
Being true to myself making my POV and feelings a priority
Stop trying to be special, best or first in all aspects of life
Stop fighting fear
Sleeping enough
Breathing excercises, body first approach
Accepting hard memories as they are and going forward anyway not giving them additional meaning and weight
Accepting challenges and look at them as opportunities to grow
Don’t care so much about others opinions
Looking anxiety as excitement

Anxiety is something that’s plagued me, for most of my life, and taking flight has always been my preferred option and still is, I think you’ll agree nervousness and anxiety are two totally different things.. hypnosis is probably the only thing I haven’t tried at this stage. There are times when my anxiety is particularly bad I’d sell my soul to be rid of it.

This is by far the best and most helpful advice I have heard in the last 5 years, it's true I became so unhappy and scared when my parents were passing I experienced the physical symptoms of anxiety for the first time it put the fear of God in me as it was the first time I had ever felt that bad, and I've been afraid of anxiety ever since. I honestly feel slightly better already and it's only been 5 minutes, I've been looking for the 'cure' ever since it's the wrong solution. Thank you so much

Helpful and very insightful!! I’ve been on the struggle bus with abrupt anxiety the last 4-5 days out of nowhere. This helped me very much! I had a stressful event 2 weeks ago, and to my belief, I belief in just now delayed responding to the event in the form of being anxious about being anxious!

I’m glad I have anxiety, and I don’t want to be normal.

It’s made me who I am, and it’s made me strong.

Tim great video. Here’s my story. 52yrs old - just retired from military in 2022. 8 months ago broke my clavicle & fractured some ribs - was riding my mountain bike around the property when my dog suddenly clipped me front the front tire causing me to flip. Pretty painful & first time I have ever broke anything. About two weeks after that I’m pretty sure I had a panic attack - had usual symptoms - felt like something was wrong internally - like oxygen was being cut off from brain - which then caused me to go into panic mode & experience other symptoms - muscle tightness etc. Had wife call ambulance - ambulance came & EMT’s said all vitals were fine. Brushed it off as allergic reaction to Flexiril. Over the course of the next few months this happened a few more times but with the help of my spouse was able to calm down. About a month & a 1/2 ago had severe tingling in my head followed by some numbness & tingling on left leg. Since then I have been seen at the ER 3 times & been to Docs several times - all telling me that my vitals, blood work, heart etc. are fine & said I basically have paresthesia which is more than likely causing severe or anxiety or even panic attacks. However an MRI of my brain was also done & discovered a about a 7mm cavernoma on right rear side of brain (basically mine was a dried up blood vessel & not bleeding - ER docs said these can be common - I could have been born with it or could be caused by head injury). Was also referred to a neurologist who recently told me that based on symptoms I explained (numbness mostly effecting me on left side a migraine headache & due to location of carvernoma - he said this was more than likely epilepsy “a mild form”) was suspicious for for epilepsy & put me on a trial error of Keppra (although mild - it can be the worst epilepsy drug that you can put someone on with anxiety / depression or even mild anger problems). Long story short - my wife left the appt. a bit shocked - it was hard to accept. However after leaving my wife & I did some more research - we never told the neurologist that I have had any seizures & all the symptoms he asked of me that fall in line with an epileptic person who has had “any type” of seizure episodes (NOTE: Not all seizure episodes occur by people falling to the floor & trembling - some can be focal awareness / focal unawareness seizures & auras are considered seizures). Also after doing a side by side comparison of all the symptoms between epilepsy & severe anxiety or even panic attacks - my symptoms ALL fall under more under anxiety / panic attacks. Also despite having a non-active dried up cavernoma which I was more than likely born with - to include being told by the neuro doc that my brain is health / normal - I have had NO epileptic seizures of any type . Studies have also shown EEG tests / readings (test used to measure brain waves) can be confused because panic attacks and seizures can be so similar - basically the brain waves / electrical readings are similar. Also seizures typically ONLY last for 2-3 minutes however my symptoms and anxiety can last for hours / days / weeks / etc.. One final note - I am still pending another MRI and EEG test & the neuro doc only mentions in his medical notes that he “is suspicious of having epilepsy due to symptoms and cavernoma”.. Suspicious, no EEG, no final MRI, and the fact that epilepsy cannot be diagnosed without seizures, even if the seizures don't cause obvious effects - is not a definitive diagnosis for epilepsy.
In closing - I have not taken the Keppra - my wife is convinced that I more than likely have severe anxiety & wants to treat as such (which in reality I rather prefer rather than epilepsy) - I am totally mind boggled & living in symptoms anxiety hell (I say it like that because I feel that the symptoms are occurring first and then the anxiety or panic sets in and am also confused by that - basically the did the egg come before the egg or vice versa?!?!?!). Studies have shown that anxiety / panic attacks can occur for several reasons - one of them is that a traumatic injury and due to the stress of the injury - could cause unexplained anxiety / panic attacks. Used to be able to run ultramarathons (50k’s / 50 milers / 100k’s / 100milers) - now I can’t even run 2 miles down the road.
Not trying to ramble on but just looking for answers and hope that this can be helpful to people who may be dealing with a situation like this.

Exercise contained anxiety. I was very active. I dislocated hip replacement and had a mild stroke which created anxiety. As I can't exercise anymore anxiety has surfaced.

Hi Tim, lots of useful insights in this video as always so thank you. I think the sticking point for me is that I can never actually know if my physical symptoms are anxiety/panic or health related and maybe something is actually happening/ going wrong. I've done so much work over the years on trying not to fear anxiety, but it's just never fully clicked for me as there is always that doubt of maybe this time something is actually wrong in my body. Would be interested to hear your thoughts, thanks!
