I’m 60 yo male that had a quintuple bypass in 2019. Never had a heart attack or any cardiac issues. They caught the blockages via a random CAC score. Since then I’ve eaten 3 years of Keto and a year of carnivore. I’ve lost 200lbs, my A1c is 5.2, fasting glucose is 100, triglycerides are 60, hdl is 60, ldl is 105, BP averages 117/72 and I’m off of all 12 prescriptions that my “doctors” had me on for 30 years. I don’t think they have a clue what they are talking about.

I am the only one in my family that switched to a keto lifestyle . I am also the only one who DID NOT become diabetic. Proof enough for me it works!!

What those guys were saying is akin to saying that if someone doesn’t drink alcohol for a long time their tolerance to alcohol drops so abstinence is bad and they should continue to drink high amounts of alcohol to maintain a high tolerance to it.

😆😆

Even a sports massage therapist like me can see the fallacy in that.

I was diagnosed DT2 over fifteen years ago, and A1c fluctuated between 6.2 - 7. After doing keto for the past year and a half, I lost 80 lbs., and A1c is 4.6.

You remain so calm. It is so frustrating to listen to the critics. They truly believe they are correct.

My only regret about going low carb is that I didnt do it 30 years ago before all the damage from prediabetes/insulin resistance was done.

Why would ever want to go back to eating the improper diet that made me pre diabetic? I’m healthy and happy. I take no medications at 70 and I eat the best, most nutritious food on the planet. Nope, keto/carnivore for me forever!

I've noticed the difference in how soon after a meal I begin to get hungry. When I've had a meal with some carbs in it I get hungry sooner than if I have a more satiating protein and some fat meal with very little carbs. And I am fat adapted.

I don’t have a problem with plant based folks, I have a massive problem with lying.

Unfortunately because of these misunderstandings so many people get bamboozled and all the correct information gets muddled. Thank you Dr Westman for addressing the imbalance. 🙏

I’ve tried “mastering diabetes” recommendations low fat, healthy Whole Foods, basically the plant based diet. For a good 3 months. My A1C did not improve it actually got worse, I grew more hungry, needing to eat every two hours.

Ever since getting my labs back I’ve decided to go all in on the keto / carnivore diet aka the proper human diet! It’s been nearly two and a half months, I feel ten times better. I’m not hungry all the time. Less anxiety. I eat eggs butter and bacon every very morning with an avocado on the side. Low carb keto is the way.

“Mastering diabetes” is snake oil and a disservice to health patients.

I’m 53 years old - I’m sort of keto/carnivore. I do prioritize protein. I do eat low carbs but I eat nuts. I eat 2 Brazilian nuts daily for selenium that my thyroid needs. I try to eat berries as my dessert. I was able to get down to the same weight I was 8 years ago. I lost more but like I said I was sort of on this diet. I need to be stricter with my carbs. I just started to take inositol to help because I’m close to menopause. I really only eat Mexican food & pizza as the “bad foods” once in a while. I still try to prioritize protein. I’m the only one on keto so I don’t really have a good support system. That said, I am healthier then I was 8 years ago. I made lots of small changes like avoid sodas, ultra processed foods. No keto bars etc. I’m a work in progress. I need to make more changes if I want to continue to be healthy.
