Explosive movements are the key to fat loss and increase power! With this exercise you can perform it on any safe, sturdy and strong object. Ideally you would like to use an object that's a few inches above the knee this is because you want to utilize all the muscles involved in the movement on this exercise. Like I said before more muscles used (correctly) in a workout the calories you burn!
