External SSD not showing up on Mac - Fix | Solid State Drive

Cant see External Ssd on MacBook, iMac, Mac Pro, Mac mini, Mac Studio
Not showing up in desktop , not showing in finder

Great video but it doesn't seem to relate to the title. You talk about setting up an external drive, not fixing a problem with a drive that's not showing up on the Mac. Have I missed something?

What if even after checking the external disks on side bar, the SanDisk SSD still doesn’t show up.

I did watch the video- called Apple Help. They were very helpful. Took at least 100 keystrokes to sort it out! Turned out to not be simple if you have a bottleneck in the remaining memory on your lap top! Thanks for trying to help me though. There are so many permutations you just can't cover all of the baes.

Hi. So my Samsung t7 was showing up earlier but now its not showing up at all. In Disk Utility there is nothing in the "External" section. My Samsung t& shows up on my iPad but nothing on my MacBook Air. Can you help please!!

There is no preferences on the Finder menu, only settings. I just got this computer last year, so what are you talking about?

I tried what you recommened- now my SSD (Sandisk) doesn't even show up in Finder! I selected the AFPS format, and it looks incompatible with Time Machine. Now I can't restore the Apple propriatary software. Any suggestions?

Guys I was exporting a Final Cut Pro video (about an hour long) when my computer turned of and was not responding so I shut off my computer entirely (I was not able to properly eject the SSD) but now whenever I plug the SSD back in it won't show up and my computer freezes and the mouse turns into that spinning beach ball. What do I do!!! (I have a 2019 16 inch MacBook Pro if that changes anything).

Deleting all data is not option, you should adjust title to reflect this solution is only for New Drives there is a big difference between getting a disk image displayed and reformatting a non displayed new drive.

Well, there is no external harddrive under preferences. It is called "time Machine". right?

I have a 4tb scan disk, when I restart Mac or eject ssd, it doesn't show up again. I have to erase by disk utility

Very nice video, but man I dropped my easystore wd external which I had for years, and now when I plug it in, nothing happens, I cannot even find it on utility or about this mac report, the external is a 8tb, and I had forty thousand I tunes songs along with all my movies and pics down the drain, oh it hurts so bad, but I am going to keep it, until I find someone that can give me advice or perhaps has a window pc computer to check, or if anyone has any advice, I will take it, I suppose the pros will charge an arm and a leg to fix it, but I will find out..

I've accidentally deleted the bottom volume and the ssd has become unreadable
